   Fortnite entered the market as a crazy idea and took the shooter genre by storm and continues to lead the way in many aspects.  It nearly defines the battle royale genre and the combination of shooting and building is still pretty much unmatched.

2. Gears of War Series

   Often just called the Gears Series, Gears of War as been a tried and true Third-person shooter in single player story modes, co-op, and online multiplayer playerbases.  The series is very well designed and often overlooked for just how complete each game is for every type of gamer.

3. PUBG Series

   The forefather of the battle royale genre, or at least the one that put battle royale in front of gamers, PUBG is holding strong as a solid FPS choice and a great competitive and casual battle royale experience.
