Uncrowned Guard
Quote 7.6.2021 Sent to the Hot Saucers mailing list: It looks like not even the Aliens are immune to homesickness. They’ve brought an aspect of their own home to the Island: their physics. And surprisingly, this memento has changed how crafting works even more. We’ve assembled a file on this sample of outer space. (See attached.) -Mari File on Alien Nanites With the latest Alien invention to be discovered — Alien Nanites — you can recreate the atmosphere of their home planet. Throw one down to create a low-gravity biome that you can exit and enter. It’s as thick as gelatin (their planet’s probably super humid), so you’ll practically start swimming when you jump. To descend faster in the biome, try crouching. Also: you won’t get hurt if you jump out of one from a high place. Even if you don’t throw one down, Alien Nanites still have a purpose. Like Nuts and Bolts, they can be used as a crafting ingredient: combine one with a Rare+ Submachine Gun to create a Kymera Ray Gun. In a blow to the IO, it can be used to craft their weapons as well: combine one with a Rare+ Assault Rifle to create a Pulse Rifle and with a Rare+ Sniper to create a Rail Gun. Alien Nanites can be found on the ground, on top of Abductors, and in the Mothership. File on... Zyg and Choppy’s Ray Gun? An Alien named Choppy and a robot called Zyg have begun wandering the Island, planting what seems to be Parasite eggs. (Benefit of the doubt: we think the robot’s just doing the bidding of the Alien). They’ve made their first stop towards the south of the Island. If you decide to hinder their plans, you can get their special Ray Gun, a more powerful version of the standard Kymera one. What else is new in Battle Royale in v17.10 - July 6 Hotfix: Holly Hedges Taken Over by Aliens The Aliens have moved in and put up their three-toed feet at the once quiet Holly Hedges. Alien biomes have started forming around houses, new flora is sprouting to match their homeworld, and the IO's investigation team is curious what's going on. It’s a good location for getting your hands on Alien tech, if you don’t mind the change in ambience. Uncrowned Guard
Quote Fortnite v17.10 - July 13 Hotfix: Inflate-A-Bulls and Holly Hatchery Enter the Invasion 7.13.2021 Sent to the Hot Saucers mailing list: Knowing that cattle are an Alien abduction favorite, the Imagined Order moved to create a cow disguise they could use in a surprise attack against the invaders. However, the results of their work ended up in something different: an evasion device they admiringly call the Inflate-A-Bull. File with info is attached. -Mari File on Inflate-A-Bulls With an Inflate-A-Bull on your back, inflate it to bounce or roll away from a dangerous situation. (Tip: Rolling downhill with an Inflate-A-Bull is a LOT faster than just running downhill.) You can also inflate it to squash a Parasite that’s attached to you, if you’re not looking for its help. The “Bull” may attract the attention of Saucers when inflated, but its evasive advantages are worth it. The Inflate-A-Bull is not invincible: it will pop if it gets shot. (You’ll fortunately be protected from the shot.) Once popped, it takes a while to self-repair and become available for use again. However, if you decide to deflate it yourself manually, it'll be ready for use again in much less time. Like the Recon Scanner, this invention has been herded into IO Chests and normal Chests. Track how much more you can use one with its usage bar. What else is new in Battle Royale in v17.10 - July 13 Hotfix: From Holly Hedges to Holly Hatchery After the Aliens made residence at Holly Hedges last week, their biomes are continuing to cover the neighborhood. But their settling in doesn’t stop there. They’ve begun nurturing Parasites at the location, so much so they now refer to it as “Holly Hatchery.” If you’re looking for a boost in speed or more pep in your step, this is a reliable place to get these Parasite-provided powers. Just look out for the Aliens’ guards protecting the streets. Uncrowned Guard
Quote Fortnite Battle Royale v17.20 Update: Bugha’s Late Game + Preferred Item Slots 7.20.2021 Sent to the Hot Saucers mailing list: The Alien and IO war shows no sign of subsiding. Parasite eggs continue to spread, IO field teams continue to mobilize, and new inventions have yet to be unveiled. We encourage staying vigilant as the Island gets even more Alienized and IO-ified. -Mari What’s new in Fortnite Battle Royale in v17.20: New Mode and Tournament: Bugha’s Late Game The Bugha’s Late Game Arena mode will soon be available in the playlist selection screen. Part of the festivities for Bugha entering the Icon Series, this mode puts players right in the middle of competitive Fortnite. Here’s the rundown! With your Trio, you’ll drop on the Island while the Storm’s already closing in. We’ve collaborated with Bugha to curate nine starting inventories grouped into three team loadouts. Each Trio will be assigned one of these team loadouts at random. As you play, you’ll be able to earn Hype unique to the mode. The players who earn at least 1500 Hype before Bugha’s Late Game Tournament on July 28 will be eligible to participate in the tournament. In the Bugha’s Late Game tournament version, qualified players will compete against others in their region for a share of $100,000! Read more in our Bugha Icon Series blog post. New Setting: Preferred Item Slots Take control of your loadout with the new Preferred Item Slot preferences! Located in the Game tab of the Settings menu, Preferred Item Slots lets you designate which inventory space you want a weapon or item type to go when picked up. The default active configuration for Item Slots 1-5 is 1) Assault Rifle | 2) Shotgun | 3) Unassigned | 4) Unassigned | 5) Consumable, but you can retool this to fit your play style. Want Snipers in Slot 3? Hit the “Configure” button and toggle the slot to your preferred weapon type. The next time you loot a Sniper-type item, it’ll be assigned to your third inventory space and hotkey. Like-for-like items will respect your Preferred Item Slots even if the slot is filled, swapping in the higher-rarity item. For example, loot an Epic Pump Shotgun and it will replace your Uncommon one even if you have something else like Bandages equipped. Preferred Item Slots is only active when you have at least one empty inventory slot, and the “Auto-Sort Consumables to Right" setting will continue to function as normal alongside your preferences. Major Bug Fixes Fixed an issue that caused us to disable Ziplines. Ziplines are now re-enabled. Fixed an issue that caused us to disable Rifts obtained from vendors. Vendor Rifts are now re-enabled. Fixed an issue involving items being automatically equipped in certain cases when picked up. Fixed an issue involving the Grimey Outfit’s reactivity not working. Fixed an issue involving the button for Arena Division/tournament details being unresponsive on controller. Fixed an issue involving the ‘Hold Inventory button’ Crafting menu shortcut not working. Uncrowned Guard
Quote Fortnite Battle Royale v17.21 Update: The Plasma Cannon Enters the Invasion 7.27.2021 Sent to the Hot Saucers mailing list: Like a science lesson gone wrong, plasma balls are now being used for destruction. What was once used for purposes like educating the youth or covering spills on the floor has become an instrument of war. See attached for a file on the IO-made “Plasma Cannon.” -Mari File on the Plasma Cannon Found from IO Chests and normal ones, the Plasma Cannon has enough energy to fire five plasma balls. What’s the big deal about these? An electrical dome will surround them as they slowly move forward, and enemies who get caught in the dome will take heavy damage and be impulsed back. Vehicles are affected in the same way. Tip: if you find a way to keep enemies in the dome even when impulsed, they will take repeated damage. How the Plasma Cannon affects buildings is a different story. Fearing Aliens may prove to be advanced architects, the IO made it so that the Plasma Cannon destroys structures just about instantly. The Plasma Cannon can be crafted in addition to being found. Because the IO used Alien technology to invent it, it can be crafted by combining a Legendary Pistol with an Alien Nanite. With one Plasma Cannon, one plasma ball can be deployed at a time. (Technically two for a brief moment.) But if you have multiple Plasma Cannons and cycle through them, multiple plasma balls can be deployed at once. What else is new in Fortnite Battle Royale in v17.21: Mysterious Ship above The Aftermath An unusual Alien ship is hovering over The Aftermath… The IO says “unusual” because its intent doesn’t seem to be for harm. It’s predicted its purpose will become clearer in the near future. Misc. Please note that the Plasma Cannon is not present in competitive playlists. The Inflate-A-Bull has been re-enabled in competitive playlists. Uncrowned Guard
Quote Fortnite Creative v17.30 Update: Skydome, Wildlife and More 8.3.2021 By The Fortnite Team The Creative v17.30 update is live, with highlights including the Skydome, Wildlife Spawner, and Customizable Lights! Skydome A true patch “high light”, the Skydome device provides the ability for you to illuminate your island! The Skydome will replace the default island sky box with your own custom version. Edit the properties of your world’s sun or moon and blend gradients of color for the skyline to create the perfect atmosphere and switch between different skydomes using triggers. We’ll be adding more features to the Skydome, including the ability to create smaller Skydome “volumes” within your island, more colors and more control over light sources very soon. Read more details on the Skydome Device in the Device Updates section below and on the Fortnite Creative Documentation website. Wildlife Spawner Raptors, wolves, boars, chickens and frogs have arrived in Fortnite Creative. The Wildlife Spawner lets you add and control animals, along with hunting, baiting and taming mechanics, to allow you to give your Creative experience a touch of the wild side. Read more details on the Wildlife Device in the Device Updates section below and on the Fortnite Creative Documentation website. Customizable Lights Always wanted to add that little touch of ambiance or atmosphere to your experience? The ominous glow of a pulsing red warning light, the disconcerting flicker of a broken street lamp, the ultimate disco party - now these are all possible with the new Customizable Light device. With a range of colors and effects, as well as the ability to switch between point lights and spotlights, now you can bring a whole new level of intensity to whatever you’re building. Read more details on the Customizable Lights in the Device Updates section below and on the Fortnite Creative Documentation website. ACCESSIBILITY: As with any device which allows you to manipulate colors and lights. Please always be thoughtful about players who may be sensitive to flashing colors, photosensitivity, and lights and take care when placing these devices Matchmaking Portal We’ve added a new option to the Matchmaking Portal device to allow players to create private games as well as joining public games. Join Options Player Chooses - players can decide whether to join public games or play privately when activating the portal. Public Only - the portal will always matchmake players into public games when activated. Private Only - the portal will always put players into a private game when activated. Important Note: With this change, older islands which have not been republished recently could give an error when players try to enter them via matchmaking portals. If this occurs, republishing the Island should resolve the issue. Update: The Matchmaking Portal’s ’“Join Options” are something we plan to add when the Matchmaking Portal is updated in a future release. We’ve updated this post and the Fortnite Creative Documentation website to reflect the device’s current functionality. Prefab & Gallery Updates Added 3 NEW Invasion Galleries Invasion Prop Gallery which features over 150 props including alien furniture, cosmic food trucks, and even cat food! Invasion Nature Gallery which features alien trees, bushes, and other plants. Invasion Graffiti Gallery which features building structures with welcoming artwork. Added a Slurp water variation to the Elemental Cube Gallery. Prefab & Gallery Fixes Fixed an issue with The Agency galleries missing the pillar assets. Fixed an issue with the DJ booth from The Club prefab playing the wrong audio. Fixed an issue with one of the television props trying to stream video. Fixed an issue with some Z-fighting occurring on the Colossal Coliseum prefab. Fixed an issue with the metal statue bases from the Colossal Coliseum Prop Gallery giving stone resource materials. Fixed an issue with collision on Tomato Temple. Device Updates Added the Skydome device This device allows Creators to override the default sky box for an island. The arrows on the device show the direction of light casting (so the Sun or moon will appear directly opposite from the direction the arrows are pointing. If the arrows are pointing up, the Sun or moon will be hidden beneath the island. This also allows the light source to be placed outside of the normal East-West path that the default island light source is restricted to. If multiple Skydomes are active, the most recently activated one will take control. This device also features the new Color Picker UI element to make selecting colors easier than with some older devices. This device has the following options: Enabled During Phase. Light Source (None, Sun, Moon) - determines which object will be shown in the sky. This does not affect the lighting of the skydome, it simply changes which object appears at the position of the light source. Lightsource Color - sets the overall color of the light source. Lightsource Intensity - changes the brightness of the selected lightsource. Skydome Top Color - sets the sky color for the top of the skydome (where the Light Source is positioned) Skydome Middle Color - sets the sky color for the midpoint of the skydome. Skydome Bottom Color - sets the sky color for the bottom of the skydome (opposite the Light Source) Stars Visibility - determines whether stars can be seen brightly, dimly or not at all. Horizon Fog Density - controls the opacity and distance of horizon fog. Horizon Fog Color - sets the color used for horizon fog. Enable When Receiving From. Disable When Receiving From. Added the Customizable Light device This device allows Creators to place light sources with different properties around their islands to enhance atmosphere and improve player experience. When in Spot Light mode, the device placement icon will have arrows to show the direction in which the light will be cast. These arrows do not appear in Point Light mode since light is cast in all directions in this mode. This device has the following options: Enabled During Phase. Initial State - determines whether the light is on or off at game start. Light Color - sets the base color for the light. Light Intensity - sets the brightness of the light. Light Type - toggles the device between Point Light and Spot Light. Flare Size - changes the overall size of the lighting effect. Rhythm Preset (Constant, Flicker, Wave, Shortcircuit, Party, Windy) - selected the type of visual effect applied to the light. Rhythm Time - determines the speed of whichever Rhythm Preset effect is selected. Cast Shadows - determines whether the light will cast shadows in the area around it. Note: Casting shadows can be quite performance intensive, so it is recommended that this effect be used judiciously to avoid degrading performance for players on some devices. Turn On When Receiving From. Turn Off When Receiving From. Toggle When Receiving From. Reset When Receiving From. Disable When Receiving From. Enable When Receiving From. Added the Wildlife Spawner device This device allows Creators to spawn animals into their levels and control some elements of their attributes and behavior. This device has the following options: Wildlife Type (Chicken, Frog, Boar, Wolf, Raptor, Random, Random Prey, Random Predator) Note: Frogs are not included in the Random Prey selection since they are not naturally preyed on by the predator animal types. They are included in the general Random setting, however. Number of Wildlife - determines the maximum number of living animals this spawner will allow at any time. Once this limit is reached, the spawner will stop spawning until existing animals are removed from the game. Total Spawn Limit - determines the maximum number of animals this spawner can produce during its lifetime. Spawn Timer - determines the length of time between spawns. Each spawn cycle will produce 1 animal provided limits have not been exceeded. Spawn Through Walls - determines whether the spawner can only spawn animals at spots within line of sight. Spawn Radius - determines the radius within which the spawner can produce animals. Animals will be spawned at a random location within the set radius. Enabled at Game Start Damage to Player - determines how much damage aggressive animals will do to players when attacking them. This will not make non-aggressive animals attack players. Damage to Environment - determines how much damage aggressive animals can do to environmental objects. Movement Speed - controls the movement speed of animals produced from this spawner. Health - determines the maximum health of animals produced from this spawner. Wildlife Taming - controls whether animals produced by this spawner can be tamed by players. Can Wildlife Drop Loot - determines whether animals produced by this spawner can drop resources when eliminated. Enable When Receiving From. Disable When Receiving From. Spawn When Receiving From. Despawn When Receiving From - despawns all animals produced by this spawner. Destroy Spawner When Receiving From. Tame Wildlife When Receiving From - causes all animals currently spawned by this spawner to become tamed by the player who instigated the signal. Untame All Wildlife When Receiving From - causes all animals produced by this spawner to become untamed. Untame Instigator’s Wildlife When Receiving From - causes all animals produced by this spawner which have been tamed by the player who instigated the signal, to become untamed. When Spawned Transmit On. When Eliminated Transmit On. When Tamed Transmit On. When Untamed Transmit On. Added the VFX Spawner device. This device allows various visual effects, many of which have previously been scattered among different prop galleries, to be spawned and controlled from a single device. The direction of the arrows on the device indicate the direction in which particles and effects will travel where applicable. This device has the following options: Looped Spawn Rate - determines the speed at which looping animations or particle effects will play from the device. Effect (Fireworks, Large Fireworks, Leaves, Eyes, Bats, Lightning, Lightning 02, Lightning 03, Embers, Fog, Sparkles, Disco Balls, Spark Rain, Concert Rain) - selects the effect which will be produced by the device. Enabled During Phase. Device Base Visible During Gameplay. Disable When Receiving From. Enable When Receiving From. On Effect Enabled, Transmit On Channel. On Effect Disabled, Transmit On Channel. Added the Dance Mannequin device. This device allows Creators to place a scalable dancing hologram with up to 3 preset configurations. Configurations can be selected using triggers. The device also allows the Outfit and Emote of a player to be captured and imitated by the mannequin. This device has the following options: Character Outfit Default Preset (Bubblegum, Sparkle Special, Bunnywolf, Reverb, Cameo, Ruby, Major Lazer, Rustler, Frontier, Deadfire) - selects the Outfit that will be used on the default mannequin preset. Character Outfit Preset 2. Character Outfit Preset 3. Show Pedestal. Show Stagelight. Dance Emote Default Preset (A1, Candy, Scenario, Infectious, Blowing Bubbles) - selects the emote that will be used on the default mannequin preset. Dance Emote 2 Preset. Dance Emote 3 Preset. Hue Default Preset - sets a color for the default mannequin preset. Hue Preset 2. Hue Preset 3. Strobe - causes the hologram to flicker on and off. Please use this effect with caution and be mindful of players who may be sensitive to flashing images. Base Color. Hue Override (Off, Party Mode, Silhouette) - allows special effects to override the look of the mannequin. Activate Outfit and Emote Capture on Channel - applies the instigating player’s outfit and currently playing emote (if any) to the mannequin. This will remain in effect until deactivated or until the Preset is changed. Deactivate Outfit and Emote Capture on Channel - removes any stored player Outfit and emote and returns the device to its previous settings. Activate Default Preset On Channel - cause the settings stored in Character Outfit Default Preset, Dance Emote Default Preset and Hue Default Preset to be applied to the mannequin. Uncrowned Guard
Quote Fortnite Battle Royale v17.30 Update: The Grab-itron and the Abduction of Slurpy Swamp 8.3.2021 Sent to the Hot Saucers mailing list: They say even ordinary things can be a hazard... and the Aliens have taken that to heart. So much has been tossed around with the Saucers’ tractor beams, and now there’s this new “Grab-itron” thing. Here’s everything we know about this resourceful Alien weapon (file attached). -Mari File on the Grab-itron Sometimes called a “UFO in your hands” by the IO or a “portable ordinary aircraft” by the Aliens, you can use this weapon to pull in objects that are in front of you. (This one’s a doozy.) Pull in an object with its flying disc, take it along with you, then launch it at an opponent. How much damage it deals depends on how big it is, what it’s made of, and its launch speed. The Grab-itron isn’t only for offense. If you have an object pulled in, that object will block damage coming from in front of you — until it can endure damage no longer. Also: try using the Grab-itron to catch incoming explosives and propel them back. Grab-itrons can be found in Chests, on top of Abductors, and inside the Mothership. What else is new in Fortnite Battle Royale in v17.30: Slurpy Swamp Scramble Planned from the very beginning, the Aliens have unleashed their newest tactic: abducting certain POIs. A giant tractor beam from the Mothership currently envelops Slurpy Swamp, lifting this industrial district to its untimely demise. A POI being abducted may be a cause for concern, but you could also look at it as a new battle strategy. An entire district like Slurpy Swamp is quite heavy, so the tractor beam has no choice but to break it up into chunks as it lifts it. While you’re in the low-gravity tractor beam, jump from platform to platform, maneuvering around your opponents with nimbleness. Abducting a whole POI isn’t something that happens overnight, so keep checking back throughout the week to see how the abduction has progressed. New LTM: Team Brawl! Enjoy the close combat of a small Storm circle? Want to get right back into the action after respawning? In the new Team Brawl Limited Time Mode, compete with your team to reach 60 eliminations before the other team. If you get eliminated, you’ll respawn by plummeting to the ground instead of skydiving, ensuring you get back to the brawl right away. You’ll be given a new loadout at the start and each time you respawn. Matches take place at a single POI, and the POI’s non-player buildings are extra strong for better protection. The other team outdoing yours? Don’t throw in the towel yet — if they’re too far ahead in eliminations, you’ll be lended a helping hand. All the team’s players will become marked in your view and visible behind walls. These effects expire when the lead lowers by a certain amount. Team Brawl will go live on August 5, 2021, at 9 AM ET. Get ready for this fast-paced new mode! Balance Changes IO R&D has paid off: the Pulse Rifle now does more damage when aiming down sights. The Heavy Assault Rifle now deals increased damage, has a slightly reduced fire rate, and for the first few shots, has a higher accuracy than before. Major Bug Fixes Fixed an issue with Fortnite's "3D Headphones" option on PlayStation 5 in which stereo sounds wouldn't spatialize, resulting in the stereo sounds being 2D. (This would especially impact close-range gunfire.) Please note: In order for the "3D Headphones" option in Fortnite to take effect, 3D audio must be enabled in your PlayStation 5's system settings. (Settings > Sound > Audio Output > Enable 3D Audio). Fixed an issue involving vehicle radios not playing at times when trying to turn them on. Fixed an issue involving vehicles driving erratically, caused by the player in control being in a Prop state. Vehicles can no longer be interacted with if the player is in a Prop state. Misc. Please note that the Grab-itron is not present in competitive playlists. Uncrowned Guard
Quote Fortnite Battle Royale v17.40 Update: Wild Weeks Return with Sneak Week! 8.17.2021 Sent to the Hot Saucers mailing list: After the Aliens debuted their Prop-ifiers last week, the IO may be fighting stealth with stealth — they’re removing a number of the Island’s weapons and replacing them with suppressed versions. And to make things even more stealthy, the Aliens are actually increasing Prop-ifier production… See the attached file on what we expect to be a very unusual week (a “Wild Week,” if you will). -Mari 📂 Sneak Week: The First Invasion Wild Week The invasion is reaching its climatic conclusion as new tactics are being deployed weekly to turn the tide. Starting Thursday of this week, every Epic+ Pistol, Epic+ Assault Rifle, and all Bolt-Action Sniper Rifles will be replaced with their stealthy variants: Suppressed Pistols, Suppressed Assault Rifles, and Suppressed Sniper Rifles. To avoid being seen as well as heard, the Aliens are countering this by deploying more Prop-ifiers across the Island. And in keeping up with trends, more vendors are supplying Prop Disguise services. Combine the sneakiness of a Prop Disguise with the silent precision of a Suppressed Sniper Rifle and the enemy won’t know what hit ‘em! Sneak Week also comes with a Legendary Quest chain related to the week’s theme, so jump in and earn extra XP! 📂 More Wild Weeks Coming! Based on Alien and IO behavior, it looks like this is just the beginning: each Thursday until the end of the invasion, a new Wild Week and accompanying Legendary Quest chain will debut that’s sure to shake up your strategy. Message interception from The Bridge. New Mode: Impostors! v17.40 introduces the new mode Impostors. Ensure the safety and security of The Bridge — the IO’s top secret facility — as an IO Agent... or sabotage the Imagined Order from within as a hidden Impostor. In Impostors, players will take on the role of Agents or Impostors stationed at The Bridge. Complete Assignments like calibrating llamas and delivering Storm reports, but keep an eye out for anyone untrustworthy, because the Impostors will be sabotaging and eliminating anyone in their path. Report any dubious behavior and vote out who you think’s an Impostor, but be careful not to choose incorrectly. Impostors is available as a public match or with a private party sized four to ten. With danger around every corner, trust nobody… Message interception end. 📂 File on the Burst Pulse Rifle First there was Doctor Slone’s special Pulse Rifle, but now another variant has appeared. Did the Aliens take the tech and add their own improvements? The Alien “Kymera” is selling the Burst Pulse Rifle, a Pulse Rifle that fires two-round bursts when aiming down sights and has a bigger clip size. On a side note, if you do decide to approach Kymera, could you get a few pictures? What else is new in Fortnite Battle Royale in v17.40: Coral Castle Chaos After a crater’s been left in the place of Slurpy Swamp, the Mothership has moved on to its next victim: Coral Castle. As with Slurpy Swamp during its abduction, head to Coral Castle to battle in the Mothership’s low-gravity tractor beam — hopping from one uprooted part of the POI to another. The Aliens calculated that Coral Castle will take the same amount of time to abduct as Slurpy Swamp, so keep coming back during the week to see how things have changed. Major Bug Fixes Fixed a Preferred Item Slots issue involving double item slot items, such as the Chug Cannon, moving to the incorrect slots when the player picked up a new item. Fixed an issue involving Cosmic Chests being unopenable if a player had left the team during the match. Fixed an issue that caused us to disable Prop Disguise services from vendors. These are now re-enabled. Misc. Please note that the Sneak Week Wild Week and Burst Pulse Rifle are not present in competitive playlists. How so? They’re ramping up production of their tech big time. Soon enough, we’ll be in the third “Wild Week” of their conflict. Uncrowned Guard
Quote Fortnite Battle Royale v18.20 Update: Combat Assault Rifle vs. Combat SMG 10.12.2021 By The Fortnite Team The war effort against the Cubes continues, and it’s time once again for a global endeavor. You’ve built up Turret Stations and made the strategic decision to fund Shockwave Launchers over Rift-To-Gos. Now Loopers on the Island are faced with another strategic decision, this time between two new items... Combat Assault Rifle vs. Combat SMG R&D for two original weapons is happening as part of the war effort: the Combat Assault Rifle and Combat SMG. Like the previous war effort round, donate Bars at Donation Boards to help your favorite choice reach 100% Funded first and be the one that becomes available on the Island! What’s different about the “Combat” class of weapons? Sporting a tight bullet spread and exceptional power, the Combat variants of the Assault Rifle and SMG are quite a force in an expert's hands. Just watch out for the kickback! Both the Combat Assault Rifle and Combat SMG have a strong recoil that you must tame to get the most out of them. XP and Quest Changes In case you missed it, we’ve recently updated repeatable Shared Quests to reward more XP. Here’s a comparison: Shared Quest XP Rarity v18.10 v18.20 Common 500 2,500 Uncommon 525 2,650 Rare 550 2,750 Epic 575 2,900 Legendary 750 3,750 Also, we’ll be adding a variety of additional Quests to the Daily and Weekly Punchcard in our next game update. (With the global war effort in full swing again, J.B. Chimpanski’s Questline has been re-enabled as well.) Role Bias and Voice Chat Added To Impostors v18.20 brings improvements to Impostors, the game mode inspired by Among Us from Innersloth! Focus on completing your assignments or polish up your sabotage skills with the new Role Bias feature. You’re now able to select if you prefer to be an Impostor or Agent. Based on your choice, you’ll be more likely to be selected as that role when playing Public and Private matches, although your preferred role is not guaranteed. Also, we’ve added an Impostors playlist with open Voice Chat! Communication will be split between players who are and aren’t eliminated, while mixing both the diligent Agents and wily Impostors together. Convince the group to vote out Mancake because he was definitely faking Assignments and you were nowhere near Doggo’s fragment. Those who prefer no voice communication can select an Impostors playlist with only Quick Chat enabled. Like Your Squad? Stay with Your Squad Keep a good thing going! Starting now in the NA-East server region, you can select Stay with Squad with your “Fill” team and play another match together. This feature is enabled only for Duos, Trios, and Squads modes. “Stay with Squad” will be rolling out globally at a later date. Return Requests Return Requests in Fortnite will now refresh over time. Find him and he’ll set you up with ninja-themed Quests. Also, until the end of the Season, you’ll be able to find Paper Bomb Kunai as a new weapon to throw at opponents. Find this explosive weapon in Chests or Loot Llamas — or exchange Bars with Kakashi Hatake for some. For more info on the Team 7 activities, visit our Naruto & Team 7 blog post! With the new Shield Keg, throw it down to restore your whole squad’s Shields! This Shield fountain spouts more than long enough to restore a player’s Shield from 0 to 100. John Llama and The Scientist! Winterfest “Wrapping” Up As a reminder, Winterfest ends January 6 at 9 AM ET. Unwrap 14 gift items — two Outfits included, complete Sgt. Uncrowned Guard
Quote Fortnite Battle Royale v19.01 - Jan 11 Hotfix: Tornadoes and Lightning Crop Up! 1.11.2022 By The Fortnite Team Today’s forecast predicts tornadoes and lightning joining the Island’s elements. Find out below how to use this new weather to your advantage! And speaking of weather, turn up the temperature with the unvaulted Flare Gun. 🔥 Twister and Shock: New Weather Explained If you see a tornado start to form, that’s no signal to flee. Instead, run into it as a swirling escape strategy! You’ll spin round and round ‘til you choose to glide to safety — or if you stay spinning long enough — ‘til the twister spits you out. Don’t worry: you won’t take fall damage if you get hurled. If you see a dark cloud start to form, that’s not necessarily a signal to flee either. Sure, the lightning from it deals a small amount of damage (and sets the surrounding area on fire) but the power of its shock gives players a temporary speed boost. How to increase your chance of getting struck by lightning? Jump into a body of water beneath the cloud, or reach the highest land point under it! Lightning doesn’t strike twice back-to-back — once you’ve been struck, lightning won’t strike you again right after. Flare Gun Also in the Forecast… to be Unvaulted Now! Don’t leave it up to just lightning to start fires. With this hotfix, the Flare Gun has been unvaulted! So now in addition to Firefly Jars, you can spark Flare Guns to make use of spreading flames. Find Flare Guns in Chests, on the ground, and from Supply Drops! Tornado Week: The Twisters Intensify The cyclones are at high intensity to mark this climate shake-up. In Tornado Week, running from now to January 17 at 9 AM ET, there’s a higher percent chance you’ll encounter tornadoes around the Island for their debut. The wind is at your back! Competitive notes: Tornadoes and lightning are not included in competitive playlists. Flare Guns are currently not in competitive playlists but are subject to an evaluation period. During this Season, items like the Flare Gun and Shield Keg could potentially be introduced to competitive playlists after a one-to-two week evaluation period. In this Season in particular, we're evaluating the viability of more mid-Season items introduced to competitive playlists than in recent previous Seasons. Uncrowned Guard
Quote Fortnite Battle Royale v19.10 Update: Battle Atop Tilted Towers and Klombos! 1.18.2022 By The Fortnite Team Not only has a classic POI been unearthed on the Island, but a new legendary creature has appeared as well… Here’s what’s new in Fortnite Battle Royale v19.10! The Klombos Come Forth It’s been long theorized there was a large creature on the Island, but alas, it hasn’t been found. Until now! And it’s actually no “it”— there’s more than one stomping around the Island. Don’t worry, though. Despite their enormous size, these creatures called Klombos are completely peaceful. (Unless provoked, but still.) How can these gentle giants help you in battle? Ascend their tails to get to the blowhole on their heads, then get launched a great distance upwards to escape a tricky situation. They’ve also been known to sneeze out items after snacking a bit! Klomberry Irresistible The Klombo diet is very diverse — they’ll eat just about anything you throw in front of them. But what they love most is Klomberries! Pick these fruits from small bushes around the Island, then throw one near a Klombo to lead it your way. Remember: after Klombos snack a bit, items spout out! Have you accidentally (or purposefully…) provoked a Klombo? Calm its rage with none other than a Klomberry. Fun fact: Klomberries also have nutritional value for non-Klombos. Consume one for a bump in Effective Health! The Return of Tilted Towers The Island’s thaw goes on, and Tilted Towers has emerged from underneath the snow and ice! Go out on the town with this classic POI from Fortnite’s past: build to the top of its iconic clock tower, bust into apartments, stop by restaurants, battle it out in the underground parking garage, storm No Sweat Insurance’s office, and more on your urban excursion. Grenade Launcher Unvaulted and Adjusted The Grenade Launcher is back and we've made some tweaks to its responsiveness! Projectiles now explode after their first bounce and fire more directly at your target. You can find Grenade Launchers from Rare Chests, Supply Drops, and… sharks. You Dropped This 👑 With v19.10, the Crowning Achievement Emote now displays more than 99 Crowned Victory Royales. If you had reached more than 99 before v19.10 (super impressive), your crowns were still being tracked and are now updated accordingly! In Case You Missed It: Last Week’s Balance Changes Hotfix Balance changes made in a hotfix last week: Stinger SMG Decreased the damage of the Stinger SMG. MK-Seven Assault Rifle Slightly decreased the damage of the MK-Seven Assault Rifle. Auto Shotgun Increased the reload speed of the Auto Shotgun. Competitive Notes Klombos and Grenade Launchers are not included in competitive playlists. Klomberries are included, however. Shield Kegs have been added to competitive playlists. Armored Walls have been added to competitive playlists, at a reduced pick-up limit. Major Bug Fixes Fixed an issue involving Spider-Man’s Web-Shooters getting interrupted after players swung onto web bouncers. However, getting your hands on it is no easy feat… Heavy Shotgun Returns with Heavy Updates The Heavy Shotgun has been unvaulted in a refashioned form for Chapter 3. It’s now single slug, longer-range, and requires more accuracy. Exceptionally reliable and consistent, break out the Heavy for closing the gap or responding to an incoming threat! Find the Heavy Shotgun on the ground, in normal and Rare Chests, and from Supply Drops. The new Heavy Shotgun is available in all rarities. Note: The new Heavy Shotgun is unable to penetrate through multiple targets, which the classic Heavy could do. This is a bug that will be fixed in a future game update. Haven Un-unmasked! With v19.20, begin unlocking all the masks of Chapter 3 Season 1 Battle Pass Outfit Haven! How do you unlock Haven’s masks? Collect Feathers in Chests around the Island, then spend your Feathers in the “Haven’s Masks” section of the Battle Pass tab. Each mask has a special Quest for you to complete to make the mask available to redeem. For example, catch fish to unlock cat masks, forage to unlock deer masks, glide to unlock owl masks, and more! Each mask’s Quest can be found in the “Haven’s Masks” Battle Pass section, and every mask is unlockable all the way ‘til the end of Chapter 3 Season 1. (Please note that players must own the Haven Outfit before starting the Quests.) Update on XP in Creative We’re improving the XP Beyond Battle Royale experience! Usually, Creative Islands undergo “calibration” before they begin granting Battle Pass XP from your in-game Accolades (sometimes taking several days). Now with v19.20, if you triggered an Accolade before calibration was complete, you’ll be rewarded with the XP once it’s available! Forecast Update Tornado and lightning weather events have been added to Team Rumble! Competitive Notes The Mythic Stinger SMG is not included in competitive playlists. The Heavy Shotgun is included immediately, however. While most new/unvaulted items are given an evaluation period in the wild before being added to competitive playlists, we’ve made an exception with the Heavy Shotgun, as the new Heavy Shotgun was made with higher-skill play in-mind. As our heads-up stated last week, Spider-Man’s Web-Shooters now have 20 shots instead of 80 in competitive playlists. This lower count is to encourage more strategic decisions about when to use the item, while retaining the item’s usefulness as a powerful mobility tool. Major Bug Fixes Fixed an issue involving the visual indicator for using a Reboot Van appearing at a greater distance than the sound could be heard. Fixed an issue involving matches sometimes not being recorded during a tournament session and the points earned in those matches becoming lost. Fixed an issue involving Spider-Man’s Web-Shooters dropping from eliminated players with a full stock of uses even if it didn’t have a full stock before the player was eliminated. Uncrowned Guard
Quote Fortnite Battle Royale v19.30 Update: Gyro & Flick Stick + Load Directly into the Lobby 2.15.2022 By The Fortnite Team Fortnite Battle Royale v19.30 introduces new and improved gyro controls! Also, the initial mode selection screen (which appeared on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC) has been removed, meaning you’ll now load directly into the Lobby. Read below for v19.30 details. Gyro and Flick Stick - More Controller Options! Made in collaboration with input specialist and flick stick creator Julian “Jibb” Smart, we’ve added optional gyro controls to Fortnite on gyro-supported platforms. And flick stick too! Fortnite on Nintendo Switch and Android had gyro-based motion controls before the release of v19.30, but this update brings more robust gyro controls to Fortnite on these two platforms plus PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. With gyro controls, you control the camera by turning the controller. Enable or disable gyro controls in Fortnite by going to the “Touch and Motion” tab of the settings. Gyro controls can offer more precision than standard stick aiming – but don’t have to replace it entirely. (With flick stick, for example, pointing the right stick moves the camera quickly in its direction.) For more info on gyro, watch Jibb’s video below and read our Gyro and Flick Stick blog post! Plan to turn on gyro next time you play? Our blog post linked above has tips for new and experienced gyro players. Game Mode Select Screen Removed With v19.30, we’ve removed the initial game screen (which appeared on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC) where players would select either Save the World, Battle Royale, or Creative. You’ll now boot up directly into the Lobby, ready to join the party and explore Fortnite! What does this mean for Save the World and Creative? You can now find both modes via the “Discover” screen, accessible by clicking on the “CHANGE” button above “PLAY!” See our Loading into the Lobby blog post for more information. The “CHANGE” button in the Lobby. Competitive Notes Removed Armored Walls from Supply Drop loot in competitive playlists. Major Bug Fixes Fixed an issue involving some players only having two Tent slots available, as opposed to the intended three. Fixed an issue on mobile involving build pieces not being placed after players double-tapped the associated icon. Fixed an issue — occurring in competitive playlists only — involving Spider-Man’s Web-Shooters dropping from eliminated players with the full 20 uses even if they didn’t have the full 20 before the player was eliminated. Uncrowned Guard
Quote Fortnite Battle Royale v19.40 Update: Spring and Swing in Amazing Web Week! 3.1.2022 By The Fortnite Team Swoop in and save the day in Fortnite Battle Royale v19.40: Amazing Web Week The v19.40 update presents Amazing Web Week! From March 1 at 9 AM ET to March 8, 2022, at 8:59 AM ET, find Spider-Man’s Web Shooters as Chest loot on the Island. (In addition to their regular spots!) If you want even more airtime — or just wanna send villains out of your sights — Bouncers will be unvaulted for Amazing Web Week. Find them on the ground and from Supply Drops! While in aerial action, you can complete “Amazing Web Week” Quests for extra XP. 🕸 A new themed week will begin after Amazing Web Week ends. This week starts March 8 at 9 AM ET, bringing with it a new batch of special Quests. Stay tuned for more info! Proximity Voice Chat in Impostors v19.40 enhances the Voice version of Impostors! The “Impostors (Voice)” playlist now uses proximity voice chat, meaning who you hear is based on who’s around your character. As before, voice communication is split between players who are and aren’t eliminated, while mixing both the Agents and Impostors together. Even though eliminated players can’t voice chat with non-eliminated players, they can still hear them to keep up with the drama. Players who prefer no voice communication can still select the “Impostors” playlist (which has Quick Chat enabled only). Adjust the Time of Day in Replays On platforms that support Fortnite replays, you can now change the time of day when playing back a replay! This can be done for replays that take place in Battle Royale or in Creative Islands where the time of day hasn’t been set by the Island’s creator. To adjust the time of day in a replay, select the camera settings (denoted by the camera with the gear in the middle), navigate to the clock icon, then use the slider to choose the time of day you want. You can also choose to pause the time of day. Competitive Notes The Amazing Web Week loot change and Bouncer addition are not included in competitive playlists. Major Bug Fixes Fixed an issue involving Outfits sometimes glowing with a bright blue “hologram” effect in the Lobby. Fixed the issue in which POI names would appear on the map only in English regardless of your selected language.
