“MAUER DER TOTEN” DRAWS NEAR

July is here, which means Season Four’s mid-point is fast approaching... and our next round-based Zombies map, “Mauer der Toten,” will be coming with it. The wait is almost over.

From last month’s official logo reveal and gameplay teaser video to early information on the map in our Season Four blog and Treyarch Special Broadcast, we’ve been dropping a steady stream of intel for fans to sink their teeth into.

If you’ve been keeping up with our social channels, you’ve also seen the state of Berlin after the recent undead invasion, Omega Group’s plans to keep the truth hidden from the public, and Colonel Kravchenko’s true motivation behind capturing the Requiem strike team for his own ends. We even sat down with the voice behind Samantha Maxis to catch up on the Dark Aether story in our extended interview with Julie Nathanson. But there’s still more to come.

Keep watching our channels in the coming days for intel on some of the new Omega technology you’ll get your hands on in “Mauer der Toten,” a sneak peek at our next upgradeable Zombies Perk, and more. See you then.

Weaver_Ots9.jpg

Across all modes, players can get their hands on the new rapid-fire OTs 9 SMG via in-game challenge or Store Bundle starting with the launch of Season Four Reloaded. Later in the season, melee fans will get access to the brutal Mace weapon, which will receive quite the damage upgrade in Zombies along with the rest of the Melee category (see notes below).

Looking for some extra XP every day? Starting this week, completing your first Daily Challenge of the day in Multiplayer or Zombies will now unlock a new Daily 2XP Token Reward. Each day you play, a new randomly selected 2XP or 2X Weapon XP Token will become available. If you don't complete a Daily Challenge that day, you’ll miss out on that day's 2XP reward, so be sure to complete at least one Daily Challenge every day to maximize your XP gains.

Bulldozer_Mace_2.jpg

The Prestige Shop gets an upgrade this week with a new batch of content, including the new “Dark Horse” SMG and “Confrontation” assault rifle Weapon Blueprints to unlock with your Prestige Keys. Visit the Prestige Shop in the Barracks to see what’s new!

And on PlayStation 5, players will be prompted to download new High Resolution Texture Packs at the start of Season Four Reloaded for the best visual experience going forward. These will no longer be installed by default on PlayStation 5 and will need to be downloaded manually for Multiplayer, Zombies, and Dead Ops Arcade 3. If you skip the download upon boot-up, these packs will be available for later download via the in-game Store.

Now... let’s talk Zombies.

MTD_Zombies.jpg

ZOMBIES

The wait is over. After enduring the harrowing events at Projekt Endstation in “Die Maschine,” freeing Samantha Maxis from the Dark Aether in “Firebase Z,” and surviving multiple operations throughout the Ural Mountains Outbreak Zone, Requiem’s strike team has been captured by Kravchenko and taken to Berlin to do his bidding in “Mauer der Toten,” our latest round-based Zombies map.

Your mission: eliminate the undead threat and capture the traitor responsible for the horrors that have overtaken the city, or Requiem’s pilot – known by the call sign “Raptor-1” – will pay with his life. Luckily for you, “Mauer der Toten” is loaded with new weaponry to unleash against the horde, including the new-and-improved Mule Kick Perk, LT53 Kazimir Tactical device, robotic Klaus AI helper, and the CRBR-S Wonder Weapon with four total variants to choose from.

New_Perk_1920x1080.jpg

With all these new toys (and a new round of weapon buffs detailed in the patch notes below), Mule Kick is indispensable as the latest addition to the Perk-a-Cola family. While Mule Kick’s base ability to carry a third weapon is back from previous incarnations, you’ll become a well-stocked walking arsenal by the time you’ve upgraded it all the way to Skill Tier V.

Here’s what’s waiting for you:

  • Base ability: Carry a third primary weapon.
  • Skill Tier I: Crafted Equipment grants an additional Equipment if able.
  • Skill Tier II: All enemies have a small chance to drop ammo.
  • Skill Tier III: Stowed weapons slowly refill ammo from stock.
  • Skill Tier IV: 25% chance to keep non-retrievable Equipment when used.
  • Skill Tier V: Third primary weapon is recovered when repurchasing Mule Kick.

Get the full breakdown on Mule Kick at the Call of Duty Blog, including Perk strategies, tips and tricks, and an in-depth guide to getting the most out of all five Skill Tiers. And for all those “Easter Egg” hunters out there, we’ll be turning on the Main Quest in “Mauer der Toten” at 10AM PT / 1PM ET July 15th. Plan accordingly!

BOCW-S4-026-008.jpg

As we mentioned in our blog last week, we’re also significantly reducing the health caps of enemies in Zombies, reducing armor durability for Medium and Heavy zombies, buffing sniper rifles and Pack-a-Punched melee weapons, and adjusting damage scaling for certain Equipment, Support, and Field Upgrades for a more fulfilling zombie-killing experience. Check out the patch notes below for all the juicy details on what’s changing with this week’s update.

We’re also introducing a new feature on all round-based maps: Dynamic Wall Buys. Now, Wall Buy weapons will have a chance to increase in rarity every five rounds all the way up to Legendary, so players will have more options to choose from as the rounds get higher. This should introduce more variety and purpose to Wall Buys at high rounds, as it’s definitely worth looking around to see which weapons have been upgraded as the match goes on.

WeaverOperator.jpeg

Later in the season, a younger version of Requiem’s own Grigori Weaver will become a playable Operator in Zombies, Multiplayer, and Warzone in the upcoming Tracer Pack: Weaver Operator Bundle in the Store. His “Kremlin’s Eye” Operator Skin is a classic throwback to the Weaver we all met back in the O.G. Black Ops, just after his eye was taken by Lev Kravchenko. Samantha isn’t the only one who gets to have a little fun in the field!

We’ve also got new updates for Dead Ops Arcade 3, including the new First Person Solo Advanced Start playlist, the mysterious addition of "Mama’s" “Armory Basket,” plus several gameplay adjustments and stability fixes. We’ve got even more planned for Dead Ops Arcade in the future, so stay tuned!

Onslaught_1_Watermark.jpg

And on PlayStation, Zombies receives its 20th Onslaught map (!!) with the addition of Rush, complete with new Dark Aether story Intel to unlock. Players can also jump into the insane new Onslaught Accelerated mode, featuring an endless barrage of enemies that never stop spawning and a Dark Aether orb that never stops moving. Killing enemies even increases the speed of the orb for a short period, so the action truly never stops.

As an exclusive bonus, you’ll be rewarded with the “Chemtaminate” LMG Weapon Blueprint if you’re tough enough to survive 20 Surges in Onslaught Accelerated. Good luck!

6vs6_Capture_the_Flag.jpg

MULTIPLAYER

We’re bringing a non-stop mix of new and classic action to Multiplayer in Season Four Reloaded, starting with the return of Rush from Black Ops II. This iconic paintball arena joins the 6v6 map rotation with its own Rush 24/7 Featured Playlist this week, along with one of our all-time favorite MP modes, Capture the Flag. Hailing from the early days of Call of Duty, this one needs no introduction... capture the enemy flag, protect your own, and rack up the most captures to take the win.

The new Cranked Moshpit also drops this week, bringing Cranked Team Deathmatch and Cranked Kill Confirmed to Black Ops Cold War for the very first time. If you’ve played Cranked Hardpoint (or even Cranked in Zombies), you know the drill: eliminate enemies to become Cranked and earn buffs, and keep getting kills before your Cranked Timer runs out!

BOCW-S4-038-002.jpg

Next week, we’re bringing Paintball Moshpit into the mix as well, featuring a mix of 6v6 respawn modes with paintball impact visuals and sound effects. NukeJacked 24/7, Snipers Only Moshpit, and Gunfight Blueprints also return this week alongside Face Off 6v6, Party Games, and Multi-Team, so there’s no shortage of action at the launch of Season Four Reloaded, no matter how you play.

Oh, one more thing... we’ve heard from those players who went the extra mile in Cranked Hardpoint to earn the hidden Nuke Scorestreak, and we’re bringing it to the rest of Multiplayer. Starting this week, players will now be able to call in a Nuke by earning 30 kills without dying in all modes, with the exceptions of League Play and CDL variants, Multi-Team, Party Games, and Gunfight. “Going nuclear” suddenly takes on a whole new meaning...

LeaguePlayBlueprintsBlog.jpg

LEAGUE PLAY

Shortly after the launch of Season Four Reloaded, competitive fans will have even more rewards to earn in League Play, including new CDL-themed Weapon Blueprints, Weapon Charms, Emblems, Stickers, and XP bonuses at milestones up to 100 wins:

  • 10 Wins: Weapon Charm, Sticker, Emblem
  • 20 Wins: Pistol Blueprint, Weapon Charm, Sticker, Emblem
  • 35 Wins: Weapon Charm, Sticker, Emblem
  • 50 Wins: Assault Rifle Blueprint, Weapon Charm, Sticker, Emblem
  • 75 Wins: Weapon Charm, Sticker, Emblem
  • 100 Wins: SMG Blueprint, Weapon Charm, Sticker, Emblem

Progress toward these milestones will begin in Season Four Reloaded for all players. With this update, we’re also removing Standoff from the CDL Hardpoint map rotation and addressing an issue that could prevent players from being promoted or demoted to the appropriate Skill Division.

2XP + 2WXP WEEKEND STARTS JULY 16

What better way to kick off Season Four Reloaded? Starting at 10AM PT July 16th through July 19th, we’re turning on 2XP and 2X Weapon XP for everyone in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, so everyone can hit their next Prestige, max out the new OTs 9 SMG, and earn those Prestige Keys twice as fast.

See you online.

      • Because the orb cannot be filled, it does not explode and wipe out enemies, and there are no pauses in movement.
      • Enemies killed increase the speed of the orb for a small period. Each kill increases orb movement speed by 50% for 3 seconds. This effect stacks with multiple kills.
      • Elite Surge Waves still spawn on every third wave.

August 16, 202

horizontal-long-line.png

August-16th.pngBUG-FIXES.png

  • Fixed an issue allowing multiple Squads to enter the same Red Door.
    • This addresses other related issues such as dying to Gas in the Red Door hallway.
  • Fixed an issue where Battle Pass Tiers were not unlocked correctly when the Battle Pass or the Battle Pass Bundle were received as a gift.
  • Fixed an issue with the PPSh-41 (BOCW) where the KGB Eliminator and GRU Suppressor Attachment icons were appearing as white boxes.

WEAPONS.png

We are generally pleased with the state of balance and we do not think anything needs to be immediately addressed. However, we do feel there are some outliers in the Assault Rifle category that have been top tier long enough that it is now appropriate to reduce their power level to give other Weapons some time in the spotlight.  Those changes will be coming very soon.

Assault Rifles

  • AS VAL (MW)
    • Maximum Damage decreased from 30 to 27

The AS VAL (MW), following our balance overhaul, retained one of the fastest, easily achieved TTKs in the game. While its magazine capacity does hold it back, its TTK potential has remained well outside of the range we have been targeting.

Submachine Guns

  • Fennec (MW)
    • Bullet Velocity increased by 13.4%

The Fennec (MW) has struggled to gain footing due to some glaring weaknesses. This change will make the Fennec (MW) viable at slightly further distances.

  • Submachine Gun Charlie (MW)
    • Maximum Damage decreased from 34 to 31
    • Maximum Damage Range decreased by 5.4%
    • Upper Torso Damage Multiplier increased from 1 to 1.1

This change is intended to place some of the power of the Submachine Gun Charlie (MW) behind a mechanical requirement - making it a little less forgiving.

  • OTs 9 (BOCW)
    • ADS Weapon Sway decreased

When making large, sweeping motions while aiming down sights with the OTs 9 (BOCW), players could find most of their front iron sights obstructed by the rear iron sights. This type of sightline obstruction can be frustrating when attempting to effectively track enemies.

Handguns

  • AMP 63 (BOCW)
    • Maximum Damage decreased from 33 to 31
    • Mid Damage now 28
    • Minimum Damage decreased from 28 to 23

  • M19 (MW)
    • This change only applies while using Akimbo
      • Maximum Damage decreased from 33 to 29
      • Mid Damage decreased from 28 to 25
      • Minimum Damage decreased from 23 to 20

  • Sykov (MW)
    • This change only applies while using the Sorokin 140mm Auto
      • Maximum Damage decreased from 27 to 24
      • Mid Damage decreased from 23 to 20
      • Minimum Damage decreased from 19 to 17

Handguns were fortunate enough to evade the initial balance overhaul. These changes aim to place some of the most powerful Secondary Weapons at a power level that is more in line with other Weapons of their class.

MAPS.png
Banner image of Operators fighting around a mobile broadcast station.

New Points of Interest:

  • Mobile Broadcast Stations
    • These POIs can be found in a variety of locations in Verdansk, differing from match-to-match to keep one area from being signal boosted by the rewards they offer. See what they’re all about by going closer to them, but be sure to keep your head and tune out the broadcast each one emits…
  • [[REDACTED]]
    • [[REDACTED]] has gone off grid and reports suggest [[REDACTED]] is doing [[REDACTED]] in Verdansk - what, we do not know. This is an unauthorized [[REDACTED]] that could jeopardize our [[REDACTED]] in discovering and stopping Stitch.

Banner image of the new Gulag (Rush) map.

New Gulag: Rush:

  • Based on the classic Black Ops II map, this layout is comprised of the main speedball arena.

Red Doors:

  • Beware of these doors sending you to unexpected locations other than the main room. This may have something to do with those Mobile Broadcast Stations seen around Verdansk…

GENERAL.png
Banner image of operators dropping into Verdansk.
  • [Console Only] High-resolution textures are now delivered through On-Demand Texture Streaming. To enjoy a similar visual quality, enable this feature in the Options menu.
  • [PC Only] The Windows 7 operating system will stop being supported by Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® and Call of Duty®: Warzone™ on September 8th, 2021.

GAMEPLAY.png
Banner image of an operator equipping armor plates using the new Tempered perk.
  • Loot that spawns across Verdansk has been adjusted as follows…
    • New Gulag and in-game lobby loadouts
    • The Sentry Gun Killstreak can now be found in Supply Boxes
    • The TEC-9 (BOCW) and EM2 (BOCW) have been added to the loot pool
  • Players may now detach from an ascender before reaching their destination.

Perks:

  • Added:

    • Combat Scout - Slot 3 (Yellow)
      • Damaging an enemy briefly highlights and automatically pings them.

    • Tempered - Slot 2 (Red)
      • Armor Plates are reinforced and now absorb 75 damage instead of 50. Only two Armor Plates are needed for an Operator to be considered “fully armored.”

  • Adjusted:

    • Cold-Blooded - Slot 1 (Blue)
      • Undetectable by AI targeting systems and thermal optics. Does not trigger High Alert warning and negates Combat Scout.
      • This change only applies to Warzone.

BUG-FIXES.png
New operator Kitsune making gun hands.
  • Fixed additional collision issues with various elements across Verdansk allowing Players to exploit/peek/shoot through them.
  • Fixed visual issues with various elements across Verdansk causing them to disappear at certain angles or allowing light to shine through them.
  • Fixed an issue allowing Players to hide inside of cash drops.
  • Fixed an issue related to the in-game lobby causing Players to turn invisible for the duration of the match.
  • Fixed an issue where a Munitions Box could be dropped in the in-game lobby and persist to the live match.
  • Fixed an issue where a Player would lose their Weapons when reviving another player if the downed Player gave up.
  • Fixed an issue where a Player’s head would disappear when a Plunder bag was on their back.
  • Fixed an issue where Dismemberment was not working for the “Solar Flare” Blueprint.
  • Fixed an issue where new Text Chat options did not appear in the Accessibility Menu.
  • Fixed an issue where sniper glint would sometimes not appear.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Solar Flare” Blueprint wasn't properly applied to the base Weapon.
  • Fixed an issue where the Bumper Ping Button Layout would ping when deploying a Field Upgrade.
  • Fixed an issue with the Steady Aim Laser descriptions for the AK-47 (BOCW) and C58 (BOCW).
  • Fixed an issue where Tracers were not present when using the “Solar Flare” Blueprint.
  • Fixed an issue with Akimbo Pistols would spawn with the left Weapon unloaded.
  • Fixed an issue with the OTs 9 (BOCW) dynamic icons.

UI-UX-MORE.png
Banner showing the old and new icons for Armor Boxes.
  • Added a new Armor Box icon to better differentiate between Ammo Box and Armor Box.

ACCESSIBILITY.png
Banner showing the new Steady Aim Behavior menu option.
  • Added the option to have Steady Aim Behavior be a toggle instead of a hold for Controller and KBM.

    • This accessibility feature supports motor disability by eliminating the need to hold a button for extended periods of time in order to stabilize scoped Weapons such as snipers.

    • The setting has two options:
      • Hold: Press and hold to steady aim.
      • Toggle: Press to steady aim. Press again to stop.

    • Note: The setting cannot be used if the Change Zoom Shared Input setting is set to Steady Aim (Sprint/Tactical Sprint/Steady Aim Keybind in Warzone).

WEAPONS.png
Banner image of the new TEC-9 submachine gun.

New Weapons (BOCW):

  • EM2: Assault Rifle (Launch)

    • Obtain the EM2 for free and ready to use in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone at Tier 15 of the Season Five Battle Pass.
  • TEC-9: Submachine Gun (Launch)
    • Semi-auto submachine gun. Improved accuracy from longer ranges with low recoil and a slower fire rate. Good damage output with moderate range.
    • Obtain the TEC-9 for free and ready to use in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone at Tier 31 of the Season Five Battle Pass.

The TEC-9 is a unique weapon, in that it sports two muzzles that alter its fire type. When properly equipped, the TEC-9 is highly effective at enabling aggressive hip fire play.

  • Cane: Melee (In-Season)
    • Lethal walking cane.  Where fashion meets function.  Adorned with a sterling silver lion's head, this cane is easy to grip and deadly when swung.
    • Obtain via unlock Challenge or via Blueprint in the Store.
  • Marshal: Handgun (In-Season)
    • Break action pistol. Hand loaded double barrel pistol fires 12 gauge shells. Excellent damage at close range.
    • Obtain via unlock Challenge or via Blueprint in the Store.

Season Five Begins August 12

An all-new season of Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone content drops next week!

August 05, 2021

by Treyarch Staff

GET READY FOR SEASON FIVE

An all-new season of content drops on August 12th, and we can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on everything we’ve got lined up.

This will be a huge season for Multiplayer with five free maps incoming, including the brand-new Echelon and Showroom, plus the return of Black Ops II’s Slums, all available at launch. Later in the season, fans of the original Black Ops can also jump into Drive-In and a special MP-exclusive version of Zoo, beautifully remastered for the first time in over a decade.

Of course, the real star of Season Five is the new Double Agent mode: a social party game experience where players are randomly assigned as Operatives, an Investigator, or deadly Double Agents hell-bent on sabotaging the mission. You’ll need to communicate, investigate, and eliminate the traitors in your midst before it’s too late... or wreak havoc as a Double Agent to wipe out the opposition. Check out the official trailer for a sneak peek of our new favorite mode:

Hot on the heels of the launch of “Mauer der Toten,” we’ve got a banger of a new season for Zombies fans. Whether you play round-based Zombies, Outbreak, Onslaught, Dead Ops Arcade 3, or all of the above, there’s new content waiting for you on every front starting on August 12th.

That includes the essential Death Perception Perk with five powerful Skill Tiers to unlock, the shocking new Tesla Storm Field Upgrade, and the devastating Flamethrower Support Weapon, available in all round-based maps and in Outbreak at the launch of the season.

With so many players achieving Round 100+ runs for the first time in their Zombies careers – in addition to all of our recent weapon damage buffs, enemy health cap reductions, and dynamically-upgraded Wall Buy weapons – we believe the Zombies meta is rock-solid heading into Season Five.

Killing zombies feels fun while providing a steady, incremental challenge as the rounds go up, and reaching high rounds feels truly satisfying. To maintain this balance, the design team is focused on ensuring that our upcoming Perks improve other game mechanics in the mode than just damage and health. That’s why this season’s new Perk is all about increasing survivability, awareness, armor penetration, and even Salvage drop rates. We can’t wait for you to try it all out next week.

BOCW-S5-Announcement-011.jpg

As the Dark Aether continues to expand beyond the Ural Mountains, Outbreak will receive a massive content expansion with the addition of the new Collateral region, Transport Objective, Tank vehicle, Grapple Gun crafting item, and Disciple mini-boss. A new trove of narrative Intel will also become available throughout Outbreak, continuing the story from where the ending of “Mauer der Toten” left off. The Requiem Director’s agendas – and his plans for Maxis – will soon be revealed...

The all-new “Ikari EggXit” bonus map is also coming to Dead Ops Arcade 3 for players to explore in Season Five, and Onslaught will have a new collection of content to discover as well, including the new Echelon map, additional story Intel to unlock, and a new Onslaught limited-time mode and Weapon Blueprint challenge coming later in the season.

We’ve also got a new round of weapon tuning coming for a selection of assault rifles and SMGs, including some new tweaks for the LC10. Get even more details on everything coming to Season Five at the Call of Duty Blog, and keep an eye out for our official patch notes and Season Five Special Broadcast straight from Treyarch next week.

In Multiplayer, we’ve reduced the walking view bob while aiming down sights with the Hand Cannon Scorestreak. Check out the patch notes below for all the details.

August 17, 2021 Patch Notes

Zombies updates, Double Agent stability improvements, Agency Suppressor tuning, and more.

August 17, 2021

by Treyarch Staff

ZOMBIES UPDATES, STABILITY FIXES + MORE

Today’s quick update brings some new stability improvements to Double Agent, gameplay updates and stability fixes for Zombies, plus more details on some quality-of-life updates introduced in our previous update (see below). These include the reduction of the LT53 Kazimir’s Salvage cost in Zombies, the ability to disable Pack-a-Punch camo application, and Custom Mod support for Launchers, Special weapons, and Melee weapons.

We’ve corrected one change that slipped through the cracks with last week’s round of weapon tuning: reducing the Bullet Velocity penalty on the Agency Suppressor attachment on assault rifles from -30% to -15%. That’s fixed today.

There’s also a little something we added to “Mauer der Toten” last week that still hasn’t been discovered. Nothing crazy! Just a bit of fun. Let us know on Twitter when you think you’ve found it.

Drive-In 24/7, Double Agent: Melee, Knife Fight 3v3, Zombies fixes, and more.

August 26, 2021

by Treyarch Staff

ROLL INTO DRIVE-IN THIS WEEK

We’re only two weeks into Season Five and our next 6v6 map is already here: welcome to Drive-In!

Fans of the original Black Ops DLC packs will remember this classic locale set in an abandoned drive-in movie theater, packed with sniper sightlines and tight flank routes to explore. Grab some popcorn and jump into the new Drive-In 24/7 Featured Playlist to binge on a mix of 6v6 respawn modes this week.

This is the first time we’ve brought Drive-In to the series in over a decade, so if you weren’t playing back then, this one’s a completely new 6v6 experience for you. And to all the O.G. fans... welcome home.

DoubleAgent_crop.jpg

DOUBLE AGENT: MELEE, CUSTOM GAME UPDATES + MORE

We’re also delivering a special up-close-and-personal version of Season Five’s newest mode today with Double Agent: Melee. The action gets even sneakier in this custom-made game of deception, with only Melee weapons and Finishing Moves allowed – no more shooting first and asking questions later.

After infiltrating your games as Double Agents ourselves and hearing your feedback, we've made a change to start all players with no weapon, and we’ve replaced all loot weapons with Melee weapons. We've noticed that panic tends to ensue once the gunfire begins, and it can be difficult to track what's going on. The goal with replacing ranged weapons with Melee weapons is to slow things down a bit and get players to commit to an elimination.

Not all weapons have been replaced with Melee weapons, though – Investigators can still earn the Hand Cannon and Double Agents can still earn the Combat Bow. With less gunfire going on, players should be able to keep a closer eye on suspicious behavior in order to uncover the identity of the Double Agents. While these changes will be live in the Double Agent: Melee Featured Playlist, players can continue to play Double Agent with ranged weapons as loot weapons in Custom Games by setting the Loot Weapons option to the Guns setting.

Remember, teamkilling a fellow Operative that isn’t a confirmed Double Agent will also result in your death, so play the objective and use those voice comms if you want the W.

Today’s update also includes the return of Knife Fight 3v3, plus new Zombies fixes related to Death Perception, Exfil, the Grapple Gun in Outbreak, and more. As the team continues to investigate some particularly tricky issues with the Apply Blueprint feature in Zombies, we’re also planning new weapon tuning adjustments for the TEC-9, EM2, and PPSh-41 for our next update... watch for those patch notes in the near future.

Sept. 16, 2021 Patch Notes

Nuketown 12v12, Demolition, Zoo 24/7, Gunfight Blueprints, and more.

September 15, 2021

by Treyarch Staff

NUKETOWN 12v12, ZOO 24/7, DEMOLITION + MORE

While our latest Season Five Reloaded content continues with Zoo 24/7 and Demolition at the head of the table, we’re turning up the chaos with Nuketown 12v12 this week. If you haven’t seen Nuketown with 24 players before, strap in and get ready to respawn... a lot. This replaces the standard Nuketown 24/7 experience with a Moshpit of 12v12 respawn modes for a limited time, so pop those 2XP tokens and get to work.

We’ve also got Gunfight Blueprints joining the rotation this week, along with Double Agent replacing One in the Chamber as the newest mode in the Party Game collection. For Hardcore fans, we’ve also got HC versions of Nuketown 12v12, Face Off 6v6, 12v12 Moshpit, Zoo 24/7, and Demolition in rotation!

ZOMBIES UPDATES

On the Zombies front, we’re adding new stability fixes related to Trials, joining matches in progress, the Black Chest World Event in Outbreak, and enemies using projectiles on vehicles. To help out with item recognition for the LT53 Kazimir, we’re changing its rarity classification from Rare to Epic in this update.

The team also continues to work on nailing down a fix for issues that players can experience when using the Apply Blueprint feature. This one has proven especially difficult to reproduce 100% in testing, and we thank everyone for your patience while we continue to investigate.

Looking ahead, it seems Omega has been busy lately...

Keep an eye on our social channels next week for more intel on what’s to come at the launch of Season Six.

MULTIPLAYER

Three new maps are coming to Multiplayer at the launch of Season Six, starting with Deprogram. This medium-sized map takes place entirely in Russell Adler’s fractured mind as he’s being stabilized by Mason and Hudson, including Adler’s memories of Vietnam and his fateful encounter with Stitch at The Pines in New Jersey.

It’s all connected by the mysterious Red Doors, which can transport players in and out of the action in an instant. Deprogram is by far one of our most unique MP experiences in Black Ops history, and we can’t wait for everyone to check it out later this week.

S6-BOCW-MP-036-005.jpg

In Amerika, players will take to the streets of a Soviet training facility built as a facsimile of Anytown, USA. Be sure to say hi to Bubby at the Burger Town! For some 2v2 and 3v3 action, we’re bringing you deep below a KGB headquarters vault in Gluboko. If you’re looking for a non-stop grind, this one is particularly crazy in Face Off 6v6.

We’re kicking off Season Six’s Featured Playlists with Deprogram 24/7 and Face Off Gluboko 24/7 this week, along with a new Gunfight Tournament and updated Face Off 6v6 and 12v12 Moshpit playlists including the newest maps in rotation. Keep an eye out for even more Multiplayer content in “The Haunting” Event starting Oct. 19th, including a spooky Halloween version of a classic map, as well as some additional modes to sink your teeth into...

S6-BOCW-MP-008_3.jpg

As always, we’re delivering 20 new Multiplayer Season Challenges packed with exclusive Calling Cards and XP rewards to unlock, plus an Animated Master Calling Card for conquering the full set. Reach the rank of Prestige Master, and you’ll get access to all 20 challenges!

And now... the shocking finale of Black Ops Cold War Zombies is almost here.

Forsaken-Ultra-Outfit-Showcase.jpg

ZOMBIES

It all comes down to this. Requiem and Omega Group face off in the ultimate showdown in “Forsaken,” our final round-based map in Black Ops Cold War Zombies and the conclusion to the opening chapter of the Dark Aether story.

As Omega attempts to lure The Forsaken into this dimension – believing they can capture its power to weaponize against the West – Requiem plans on extracting Kazimir Zykov from the Dark Aether to prevent The Forsaken from entering our world. Meanwhile, Requiem’s Director has approved Agent Maxis for “Operation First Domino,” tapping into her newfound Dark Aether powers to serve Requiem’s secretive objectives.

The stakes have never been higher for Samantha Maxis... and for reality as we know it.

Forsaken_Chrysalax_02.jpg

Fortunately, as members of Requiem’s elite strike team, you’ll have access to plenty of new toys as you arrive at Omega’s secret test site in western Ukraine. This includes one of the most unique Wonder Weapons in the history of Zombies: The Chrysalax, forged in the pools of Aetheria within the Dark Aether itself. This new multi-function Wonder Weapon in "Forsaken" can be acquired through its own in-game quest, as a potential reward in Trials, or as a lucky roll at the Mystery Box.

As its ancient schematic suggests, this weapon can take two different forms. The first is the Chrysalax Savager, an Aetherial axe that can kill multiple zombies in a single swipe and launch a spinning energy blade into the air.

By shifting the hilt into a front grip, the Wonder Weapon transforms into the Chrysalax Storm, a rapid-fire Dark Aether energy weapon. In this form, shots have a chance to mutate normal zombies into explosive Aetherium Crystal bombs for some added crowd control.

S6-BOCW-ZM-021-004.jpg

We’re also bringing in the big guns (literally) with two new Support Weapons: the Hand Cannon and the ARC-XD, AKA the Aether Remote-Controlled Explosive Device.

Pick up the Hand Cannon at the Crafting Table when you want to deal massive damage to Special or Elite enemies at their weak points, or if you’re looking to clear an area with as few shots as possible. If you’ve got the need for speed, the ARC-XD takes out zombies as you drive past them with a pulse attack from its attached Aetherium Crystal, and its explosion on impact is more than enough to clear a room.

Forsaken_PhD_Slider.jpg

For our tenth and final Zombies Perk, we’re delivering the best of both worlds with the evolution of a series favorite. PhD Slider comes to “Forsaken” in its own dedicated Perk Machine and at Der Wunderfizz in all round-based maps and Outbreak, packed with game-changing abilities.

Long-time fans will be familiar with PhD’s base ability and some of its crucial upgrades, including immunity to explosive damage from your own weapons. However, its true potential is unlocked once all five Skill Tiers have been activated. Here’s what PhD Slider brings to the table:

  • Base ability – Sliding into enemies triggers an explosion. The size and damage increase the farther you slide before impact.
  • Skill Tier I – Immunity to environmental damage while sliding.
  • Skill Tier II – Increased slide duration.
  • Skill Tier III – Immunity to self-inflicted explosive damage.
  • Skill Tier IV – Increased slide speed.
  • Skill Tier V – Falling from a large height will trigger an explosion. The size and damage increase the higher you fall.

Because you can carry all ten Perks with no limits in Black Ops Cold War, players can combine a maxed-out PhD Slider with Perks like Speed Cola, Jugger-Nog, and Stamin-Up to sprint into a slide even faster, stay alive longer after slamming into hordes at high rounds, and survive massive blasts generated by dropping from huge heights.

Forsaken_Sultan

Of course, a new Zombies map brings a new set of Zombies Challenges to take on for cosmetic items and XP rewards, as well as new Operator Missions a new Dark Ops Challenge to conquer in “Forsaken.” Twenty new Season Challenges are also coming to Zombies with unique Calling Cards and XP rewards to earn as you make your way to Prestige Master.

Ready to go hunting? Clear your calendar and assemble your squad... the Main Quest in “Forsaken” kicks off at 10AM PT / 1PM ET Thursday, Oct. 7th. You won’t want to miss this.

Also in Season Six, the D.I.E. Wonder Weapon can now be upgraded at the Pack-a-Punch machine in "Die Maschine" and Outbreak! We’re also enabling the Rampage Inducer for Local offline play, and Dead Ops Arcade 3 receives a new round of gameplay improvements and stability fixes this week – check out the patch notes below for details.

SONY_Zombies_Onslaught_Deprogram.jpg

On PlayStation, Onslaught gets its newest map with Deprogram and the all-new Onslaught Elite limited-time mode, where you’ll face Elite enemies with each Surge. Survive 20 Surges in Onslaught Elite and you’ll add the exclusive “Rock Salt” Weapon Blueprint to your collection.

Watch for our Season Six Special Broadcast at YouTube.com/Treyarch this week for even more details on “Forsaken” straight from the dev team, and get ready for the upcoming reveal of Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies! The next chapter of the Dark Aether story awaits.

S6-BOCW-MP-018_3.jpg

NEW WEAPON TUNING

This season also brings new weapon tuning changes for the Marshal, EM2, and TEC-9 from Season Five, as well as adjustments for the C58 Assault Rifle, KSP 45 and LC10 SMGs, Hauer 77 and Streetsweeper Shotguns, the Nail Gun, and Ranger Barrel attachments on all Shotguns. Please note that any tuning changes to base damage or critical damage multipliers will not carry over in Zombies.

Check out the patch notes below for the full list of tuning details to expect in this week’s Black Ops Cold War game update before the official start of the season.

We’ve added new gameplay improvements and fixes to MP and Zombies this week, including a fix for Grav attachment unlock levels, full details on the latest Wonder Weapon upgrades in Zombies, “Forsaken” updates, and more.

Players can also now unlock legacy Prestige Icons for Prestige 13-15 from Black Ops in the Prestige Shop, as well as Prestige 13-14 and Grand Master Prestige icons from Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare! If you’ve been looking to complete your collection, now’s the time.

TUNE IN TOMORROW FOR VANGUARD ZOMBIES

In tomorrow’s update, we’re bringing Amerika 24/7 and Gunfight Gluboko to this week’s Featured Playlists, as well as the new “Fuze” Warsaw Pact Operator – and of course, the worldwide reveal of Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies kicks off at 8AM PT / 11AM ET, Oct. 14th!

MULTIPLAYER

We’re delivering new seasonal MP content during The Haunting, including the new Nuketown Halloween map decorated with plenty of tricks and treats to discover. The Nuketown Halloween dedicated playlist will be live throughout the event, along with three new modes.

We’re just dying for everyone to jump into Scream Deathmatch, where two players become masked killers chasing after the screams of their prey. Infected comes to Black Ops Cold War with new twists: it’s 18-player Zombies vs. Survivors mayhem, where Survivors now earn bonuses with each Zombie they kill. And Nuketown Halloween Prop Hunt delivers a creepy new collection of props to hunt in Nuketown Halloween, including gravestones, skulls, witch hats, coffins, spiders, and more.

Don’t forget to update your Scorestreak selection and call in some Scare Packages for a surprise!

ZOMBIES

The Zombies team is scaring up lots of new Halloween updates in all round-based maps, Outbreak, and Onslaught modes during The Haunting, including one of our most intense Zombies modes to date!

Watch for the new Jack O’Lantern item drop for a chance to pick up Wonder Weapons, Support Weapons, Ammo Mods, Chalices, Aether Tools, and high-level Armor. Scare Packages containing high-value rewards will now spawn every five rounds and in every Outbreak Region. Zombies with pumpkin heads have arrived, offering Essence bonuses to players who shoot them off... and the audio team has cooked up a hair-raising new soundtrack to get you into the spirit.

If you’re searching for a devilish new challenge, look no further than Hallows’ Eve Outbreak. This new mode drops players into the Outbreak Zone with one mission: survive for 10 minutes against increasingly aggressive waves of zombies in a single Region before Exfil begins. At first, the difficulty seems manageable... and then everything goes to hell very quickly.

The challenge ramps up every two minutes, zombie spawns are constantly pushed to the max, and enemies are always aware of your position. If you’re skilled enough to survive all 10 minutes, the Exfil point will appear at the location farthest from your squad.

Good luck... you’re going to need it.

NEW ZOMBIES UPDATES

In round-based maps, we’re cranking up the Rampage Inducer’s effects all the way up to Round 55 for those hungry for a more intense experience beyond the original 20-round limit. To fit the new round cap, we’re tweaking the Rampage Inducer’s chance to spawn Super Sprinters based on community feedback. The Super Sprinter spawn rate will now begin at 20% (formerly 50%) and increase by 5% every five rounds (25% chance at Rounds 5-9, 30% chance at Rounds 10-14, etc.) to make earlier rounds slightly more manageable before things get truly wild.

We’re also updating the Mystery Box and Trials rewards to include weapons from Seasons Four and Five, and Outbreak players will now start the match with 1,000 Essence (previously 500). In “Firebase Z,” we’ve addressed an issue where the Orda was pretty much unkillable with three or four players during Assault Rounds, as well as various other bug & stability fixes. See below for the full list of additional incoming Zombies updates.

SEASON SIX OUTRO CINEMATIC

With Adler deprogrammed and Perseus’s plans interrupted, there’s nowhere left to run. Woods, Mason, Hudson, and Adler rush to Verdansk to confront Stitch and discover the true whereabouts of Perseus. Watch the Season Six Outro Cinematic to see how it ends, and check out the new Cinematic Archive in the Barracks to watch story cinematics from previous seasons.

As Season Six draws to a close, a new chapter is about to begin...

December 6th Patch Notes

Synchronized progression, Marshal weapon tuning, Prestige Shop updates, Season Challenge reveals, and new Zombies fixes are coming to Black Ops Cold War next week.

December 03, 2021

by Treyarch Staff

DECEMBER 6 UPDATE

Next week, Season Six of Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War draws to a close and Season One of Vanguard and Warzone™ begins! To set the stage, we’ve got an update coming on December 6th that will pave the way for synchronized progression with Vanguard, new Prestige Levels and rewards, Season Challenge unlocks for the past six seasons, new Prestige Shop content, weapon unlock challenges for the .410 Ironhide and Grav, and more starting on December 8th.

This update will also include new weapon tuning for the Marshal and additional bug & stability fixes for Zombies that will go live immediately on December 6th. Read on below for all the details on everything to expect in Black Ops Cold War next week.

SYCHRONIZED PROGRESSION WITH VANGUARD

At the start of Season One, Military Rank and Prestige progression will be synchronized with Vanguard across titles. That means you’ll begin the season at the Military Rank or Prestige Level you’ve currently reached in Vanguard, or Military Rank 1 if you haven’t played Vanguard yet. From there, you’ll able to progress your Vanguard Military Ranks in Black Ops Cold War, Warzone, and Modern Warfare to unlock weapons, Equipment, Killstreaks, and other content for use in Vanguard and Warzone as you play.

Once you’ve completed Military Rank 55, a new Prestige journey will begin with new Prestige Levels and Prestige rewards to unlock across games. Similar to Black Ops Cold War’s first season, you’ll be able to earn up to Prestige 7 as your Season Level increases throughout Season One, and four additional Prestige Levels will be added in each future season. Each new Prestige Level will award you with a Prestige Key, Tier Skip, Emblem, and Sticker in Black Ops Cold War, and once you’ve reached Season Level 50 in Season One, you’ll unlock the exclusive "Duck Hunt" Shotgun Weapon Blueprint to use in Vanguard and Warzone.

Progression.jpg

LIFETIME PRESTIGE & PRESTIGE MASTER RIBBONS

For those looking to memorialize their Prestige progress from previous Black Ops Cold War seasons, we’ve got you covered. This update adds the new “Lifetime Prestige” display to Black Ops Cold War and Warzone at the start of Vanguard Season One, immortalizing your total number of Prestige Levels earned across previous seasons and in Vanguard.

We’re also continuing Prestige Master Ribbon progression for players who’ve reached Season Level 200 in any season of Black Ops Cold War. Going forward, new Prestige Master Ribbons that you earn will be added to the current six available ribbons, and you’ll be able to continue your ribbon progress in Black Ops Cold War, Vanguard, Warzone, or Modern Warfare by reaching Prestige Master at Season Level 200 in any season.

You can also now catch up on any Prestige Master Ribbons that you may have missed out on in previous seasons. Weren’t able to hit Level 200 in Season Four? No problem. Each time you complete 200 Season Levels in a season, you’ll earn the next available ribbon. You’ll also be able to earn multiple available ribbons at each 200 Season Levels – for example, reaching Season Level 400 in a season will award you with two Prestige Master Ribbons, if they’re available.

PrestigeShop.jpg

PRESTIGE SHOP UPDATES

Black Ops Cold War Prestige Icons are joining the Prestige Shop collection next week!

All 27 Prestige Icons will be unlocked and available if you’ve earned them throughout previous seasons, and you’ll be able to equip any Prestige Icon you’ve acquired as long as you reached Prestige Master at least once in a current or previous season. You won’t need to currently be Prestige Master in the season to access your Custom Prestige Icons in the Prestige Shop.

With this update, equipped Prestige Icons will also no longer be reset at the start of each season, so you can pick and choose whichever Prestige Icon you’re feeling at any given time. As a reminder, you’ll continue to earn Prestige Keys in Black Ops Cold War at every 50 Season Levels even after Vanguard Season One begins, allowing everyone to keep unlocking Prestige Shop content after Season Six.

SeasonChallenges.jpg

All SEASON CHALLENGES Revealed

We’ve got good news for all you completionists out there who weren’t able to unlock every Season Challenge throughout the seasons.

Next week, all previously classifed Black Ops Cold War Season Challenges will be revealed for everyone, and can be progressed by players who hadn't revealed them over the course of the previous six seasons. Even after Season Six ends, these legacy Season Challenges can continue to be progressed in Black Ops Cold War if you haven’t completed them already. Complete a previous season's full set of 20 in Multiplayer or Zombies to earn an animated Master Calling Card and 10,000 bonus XP with each completion.

Then, starting with Vanguard Season One, players can access and progress 20 new Multiplayer Season Challenges in Vanguard and Warzone, as well as 20 new Zombies Season Challenges in Vanguard each season. Calling Card rewards unlocked by completing those challenges can be equipped in both Vanguard and Warzone.

Marshal.jpg

MARSHAL TUNING & ZOMBIES UPDATES (DEC. 6)

Before Season One kicks off on Wednesday, additional changes will go live on Monday when this update drops... most notably, a new round of nerfs for the Marshal break-action pistol to level the playing field a bit more. These tweaks include a reduction to the Marshal’s damage range, an increase to its damage drop-off, and nerfs to its Dragon’s Breath and Extended Barrel attachments. Think twice before bringing this one into a fight from now on.

We’re also adding a new round of stability and bug fixes for Zombies, including improvements for “Forsaken,” “Mauer der Toten,” and Outbreak, plus the addition of Onslaught Containment and Onslaught Deprogram for offline Zombies players. On the Vanguard front, watch for details on Zombies Season One content and features next week at the Call of Duty Blog!

Welcome to Paradise

“I knew one thing for certain: the world would never be ready for what I found.” — Captain Butcher, Call of Duty: Vanguard

Out of the fall, a threat continues to rise on a new front.

As the Allied Forces focus on ending World War II hostilities, Captain Butcher gets the green light to begin a top-secret campaign known as Operation Vulcan.

Vanguard — Special Operations Task Force (S.O.T.F. 001) — only delayed the inevitable with Operation Phoenix, as Axis scientists and leaders fled to the South Pacific. The four core forces from Vanguard – Hellhounds, Sentinel, Barbarian, and Shadow — were strong, but none of them, even within the Pacific, had enough intel on this uncharted island known as Caldera.

Enter S.O.T.F. 006: Trident.

With their respective elite backgrounds combined, and the winter trade winds at their back, all three members of Trident and Captain Butcher charted a course for Caldera. Unbeknownst to them, the Axis were prepared to shoot down unidentified aircraft on sight with anti-air guns stationed on Caldera’s beaches, taking down Butcher’s pride and joy while splitting him from his newly recruited forces.

Despite counterattacks, Trident survived and regrouped with Captain Butcher, who happened to land right on whatever the Axis were hiding…

Rise on a new front and discover this secret in Season One of Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Pacific, a massive island-sized introduction to another incredible year for Call of Duty — complete with free weapons, maps, Operators, and more content, especially for Vanguard owners.

Season One will begin on December 8, following updates to Vanguard and Warzone. Vanguard’s update is scheduled for December 6 at 9 PM PT. Warzone will schedule its update for when it shuts down its servers from December 7 at 9 PM PT to December 8 at 9 AM PT to prepare for Warzone Pacific.

From all the free content across Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone Pacific, to new innovations within the Battle Pass system and 24 hours of exclusive access to the new Caldera map for Vanguard owners in Warzone Pacific, this is everything you need to know for Season One:

VANGUARD AND WARZONE OVERVIEW

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-RM.jpg

- Vanguard Owners Drop in on December 8. Play the new Pacific map, Caldera, a day early by owning Call of Duty: Vanguard. Rebirth Island will remain live during this time for all other players.

- The Battle Pass: The Best Value Gets Better. Three functional weapons, two Multiplayer Perks, new Equipment in Vanguard, as well as other unprecedented free items in Tiers and dozens of other items in the full Battle Pass.

- Tips of the Three-Pronged Spear. S.O.T.F. Trident is prepared to pierce through the Pacific, with Francis “Kai” Lanakila arriving first with the Season One Battle Pass.

24-Hour Exclusive Access to Caldera

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-001.jpg

There’s still time to be the first to drop into Caldera, the brand-new map launching with Warzone Pacific.

Purchase Call of Duty: Vanguard before December 8 to participate in a 24-hour Caldera exclusive access event in Warzone Pacific, which begins on December 8 at 9 AM PT. Digital copies of Vanguard come with immediate access to Caldera during its 24-hour exclusivity period, while those who purchase a physical version must install and boot Vanguard and get past the initial interactive screen to gain access to this Warzone Pacific event.

More intel about Caldera can be found in our overview blog here.

Prepare for a Whole New War with the Battle Pass

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-002.jpg

Time to restock that arsenal for the Pacific.

The Season One Battle Pass for Vanguard and Warzone is set to offer a new standard in value, both within the free Battle Pass System and the full Battle Pass containing access to up to 100 Tiers. During Season One, you can earn plenty by just playing the game, and you’ll get even more value by picking up the full Battle Pass:

- Three Free Functional Weapons. Two New Perks. New Equipment. All Free. Period.

- Over 30 Free Items, Including Some for Clans. 300 COD Points, Weapon Blueprints, and more. Earn even more items by joining a Clan with friends, then party up to get that 10% global XP boost.

- Trident’s First Operator: Francis “Kai” Lanakila. Here for a good time, not a long time. Purchase the Battle Pass to unlock him immediately at Tier 0.

- A “Battleprepped” Legendary Skin, Free with Battle Pass Bundle. Pick up the Battle Pass Bundle to get access to all 100 Tiers, skip ahead to Tier 20, and grab a menacing new skin for Polina.

Introducing S.O.T.F. Trident, Led by Francis “Kai” Lanakila at Tier 0

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-003.jpg

When Butcher needed to hunt down the Axis on Caldera, Francis “Kai” Lanakila was the first man he called… even if he likes to show off just as much as hotshot pilot Wade Jackson.

As passionate in battle as he is for food, friends, and thrills, Francis learns quickly from mistakes and knows to move on to the bigger missions ahead. He fights to help others in need… but he always wants to make sure he looks good doing it.

His favorite weapon is the Cooper Carbine, one of the three new weapons within the Season One Battle Pass. Use it to rank up quicker through this 20-level Operator XP progression path, which includes XP bonuses, two new Skins, and a tasty “Kalua” Pork Weapon Charm among other rewards.

Francis and his default “Kingdom” Operator Skin are automatically unlocked at Tier 0 with purchase of the Season One Battle Pass.

PLUS: Bundle Bonus Skin, Other Instant Rewards

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-004.jpg

Tier 0 also offers these instant rewards upon Battle Pass purchase:

- “Alleyway” Arthur Kingsley Skin. Dive into the Pacific prepared for the heat with this new Skin for Vanguard’s leader.

- Season One XP Boost. Enjoy a 10% increase on Player XP throughout Season One.

- 45-Minute Double Weapon XP Token. Level up those new armaments faster with this token.

Those who want to get access to up to 100 Tiers of the Battle Pass — and do so with a head start — have another reason to pick up the Battle Pass Bundle: the Legendary “Battleprepped” Operator Skin for sharpshooter Polina Petrova. Although the gas mask is not functional against Caldera’s circle collapse, your presence will be even more menacing to those trying to escape it while wearing this gear.

Later This Season: Trident’s Reinforcements Lewis Howard and Isabella Rosario Dulnuan Reyes

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-005.jpg

During Season One, all of Trident will make their presence known in Warzone Pacific, Multiplayer, and Zombies, starting with Lewis Howard before the end of the year.

Lewis Howard survives even against insurmountable odds, being drafted into the war with zero knowledge of weaponry before becoming the USA’s deadliest sniper. His preferred weapon is the Gorenko Anti-Tank Rifle, also featured within the Battle Pass.

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-006.jpg

After the New Year, Trident will be complete when close-quarter battle (CQB) specialist Isabella Rosario Dulnuan Reyes joins the fray.

Get Lewis and Isabella in their own featured Bundles, set for launch during Season One. Those who have all three members of Trident and level them up to 20 will get special gold-trimmed outfits, as well as some incredibly badass Diamond Operator Skins if they maxed out all 12 Operators from the other four Task Forces.

Get the PlayStation Exclusive* Combat Pack

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-007.jpg

Get an edge over the competition with the Season One Combat Pack, free for PlayStation®Plus members starting this December to celebrate the inaugural season of Vanguard and Warzone Pacific.

The Combat Pack includes an Epic Operator Skin for Lucas Riggs, the Legendary “Blue Glitz” Shotgun Weapon Blueprint featuring 10 attachments, the Legendary “Mermaid Scale” Melee Weapon Blueprint, an Epic Emblem, Watch, Sticker, and Calling Card, and a 60-minute Double XP Token.

Five New Free Weapons in Season One, Including Three in the Battle Pass System

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-008.jpg

For the first time in Call of Duty history, players will receive not just two, but three free functional weapons in a seasonal Battle Pass system. And later this season, a new SMG and an additional melee weapon will grant players some great CQB options after completing their respective challenges or getting their hands on one of their Weapon Blueprints.

Cooper Carbine: Assault Rifle (Launch, Tier 15 of Battle Pass System)

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-009.jpg

An American hybrid rifle with SMG-like properties, the Cooper Carbine is a short-range Assault Rifle that’s easy to control with a fast fire rate.

It could best be compared to the Automaton, another popular fast-firing Assault Rifle that community members have gravitated toward since launch. By default, the Cooper Carbine has a slightly slower rate of fire, shorter effective range, and a bit more horizontal recoil, but in exchange offers better damage per shot, quicker centering speed, and a bigger default magazine.

Dive into the Gunsmith, and you’ll find attachments that can boost its rate of fire past 1,000 rpm, put its damage into three-shot elimination territory in Multiplayer, or provide a 60-round drum magazine that fully commits this weapon to its SMG roots.

Expect it to be a solid midrange option for Warzone Pacific and Multiplayer, or as an Overkill backup to the other ranged weapon in the Battle Pass system.

Gorenko Anti-Tank Rifle: Sniper Rifle (Launch, Tier 31 of Battle Pass System)

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-010.jpg

The Gorenko is going to hit enemies hard.

A heavy semi-automatic rifle, the Gorenko offers the most damage per shot of any ballistics-based weapon, capable of one-shotting any enemy in Multiplayer with ease. Even though it is semiauto, follow-up shots may be hard to take due to the incredible kick its high-caliber bullets produce.

This can be remedied with some available barrel attachments, or those who can somehow tame it could bump up the fire rate and Aim Down Sight speed for a wildly aggressive sniping Loadout.

As the only weapon of its kind in Vanguard, it fills a unique role when facing foes. However, in Warzone Pacific, the Gorenko could rival similar sniper rifles from other Call of Duty titles and may wind up being the go-to long-range option for top players in tough trials and competitions.

Sawtooth: Melee (Launch, Tier 37 of Battle Pass System)

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-011.jpg

The first functional melee weapon to ever be dropped within the Battle Pass system packs a serious bite.

Sewn with shark’s teeth along the club’s perimeter, the Sawtooth can whack and slice up foes just as well as the FS Fighting Knife.

Consider it an alternative option to the lone Secondary Melee Weapon in Vanguard.

Katana: Melee (Launch Window)

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-012.jpg

This single-edged Japanese longsword adds another deadly close-quarter combat option alongside the FS Fighting Knife and Sawtooth.

Welgun: SMG (In-Season)

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-013.jpg

A prototype developed by Captain Butcher’s S.O.E., the Welgun finds its way into the Vanguard arsenal despite being produced in limited quantities.

Similar to the Sten with the default ammo it chambers, the Welgun is extremely compact and has relatively decent balanced thanks to built-in grips.

Unlock the Katana and Welgun during Season One in Vanguard or Warzone Pacific either through a challenge or within new Store Bundles, both to arrive during the season.

Battle Pass Highlights: Weapon Blueprints, 1,300 COD Points, and More

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-014.jpg

Over 120 items are yours to unlock through the free Battle Pass System and all 100 Battle Pass Tiers in Season One, including several Tiers that stack two-for-one rewards with one exclusive for Vanguard and one to use across both Vanguard and Warzone.

These items include Highlight Intros and Killcam Vanities, the latter of which wraps a fancy or gnarly border effect around an enemy as they see their demise. But when it comes to making those highlights and looking good while doing it, you’re going to need some new Weapon Blueprints and Operator Skins.

Weapon Blueprints

Those looking to bolster their Loadouts will want to grab over a dozen Weapon Blueprints across the Battle Pass, including the following:

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-015.jpg

Epic “Headhunter” Assault Rifle Blueprint (Tier 5) – A ten-attachment armament focused on precision and hard-hitting shots. Its 20 hollow point short rounds per magazine will do plenty of damage anywhere on a target, with a 3.5x rifle scope granting great visibility to the shots that can be made easily be made downrange.

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-016.jpg

Legendary “Dirtdigger” LMG Blueprint (Free for Clans at Tier 55) – Send the opposition six feet under with a 10-attachment weapon built to act like an assault rifle. A fast belt and the Discard Proficiency makes it easy to swap magazines in between engagements (just be sure to have Scavenger handy), while the weapon’s Barrel and Stock make it easier to move around the map. Rather use it as a traditional LMG? Flip the sights from a 1.5x to 4.5x magnification to get those longshots.

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-017.jpg

Legendary “Gargoyle” Sniper Rifle (Tier 71) – With a design seemingly ripped from the side of a stained-glass building guarded by a sinister gargoyle, this 10-attachment rifle can keep your Operator unflinching like stone day or night. Meant for more mid-range engagements due to its 3.5x rifle scope, a sniper can make use of its fully loaded Lengthened three round fast mags to deal with small groups quickly.

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-018.jpg

Legendary “Bullseye” Handgun (Free Tier 81) – With this nine-attachment revolver, an Operator can down enemies as swiftly as the eagle brandished on its handle. Its all build around an experimental barrel that deals one-shot headshots in Multiplayer. With other attachments keeping the weapon accurate, as well as a scope that can have up to 6x magnification, an Operator can use this Secondary to shock a foe downrange.

Operator Skins

Want new gear for your Operators? The core twelve special forces are prepared for the Pacific with new skins, including:

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-019.jpg

Halima “Desert Cover” Skin (Tier 10) – Whether the fight rages in the arid North African deserts or the humid Pacific jungles, Halima is prepared with her warm-weather gear.

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-020.jpg

Shigenori “Konara” Skin (Tier 20) – Deal fatal blows to all foes under the Caldera forest’s dense canopies as Shigenori, who brings his custom foliage-fitted gear into the fight via the Battle Pass.

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-021.jpg

Polina “Rising Legend” Skin (Tier 90) – Outside of her signature ushanka, Polina is geared up for the Pacific with a uniform designed for the humid conditions and tropical environment of the battles ahead.

These Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints, and other Loadout and Player Profile items are all on top of some COD Points: 300 across Free Tiers in the Battle Pass System and another 1,000 within the full Battle Pass.

Add in two Vanguard Multiplayer Perks and a new Lethal Grenade for your Loadouts — all completely free to earn — and you have plenty of value to get outside of some awesome rewards at Tiers 95 and 100.

Tier 95 and Tier 100: Awaken the Fire Within Your Inner Operator

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-022.jpg

The Season One Battle Pass ends with an explosion of Legendary content, starting with the “Hold the Line” Weapon Blueprint for the new Sniper Rifle within the Battle Pass, available at Tier 95.

Following some more Legendary items in the next few Tiers — including 100 COD Points for free at Tier 98 — your reward for reaching Tier 100 is worthy of a true warrior:

- “Awoken” Legendary Francis Skin. Don the mask of a fearsome fire legend with this Legendary Skin, designed for the first Trident Operator to the fight.

- “Harvester” Legendary Assault Rifle Blueprint. A 10-attachment configuration for the new short-ranged Assault Rifle, the Harvester is all about pumping out hard-hitting damage against enemies and their technology with great speed and agility.

- Title, Emblem, and Charm. Let the lobby know you are ready to light it up with a new Title, Emblem for your profile, and a fiery Charm that can be placed on nearly any weapon of your choosing.

What’s in Store for the Pacific: Bundle Overviews

In addition to the first Bundle for the Welgun and Katana, along with Operators Francis and Isabella, Season One will bring a host of new Store content, including the first Pro Pack in Vanguard.

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-023.jpg

Fit for a fight in the Pacific, the Skull Collector Pro Pack contains seven items on top of 2,400 COD Points for only USD $19.99 SRP or your regional equivalent — essentially, a free pack of Legendary items if you were already planning to pick up 2,400 COD Points in the store.

Among these items is the Legendary “Canopy Stalker” Skin for Roland and two Legendary Weapon Blueprints that are perfect for a sniping Loadout with Overkill: the “Pythonidae” bolt-action Sniper Rifle Blueprint and the fast-firing “Acinonyx” Assault Rifle Blueprint. It also has a home run of an MVP highlight in “Knuckleball” for Vanguard, if you choose to jump back into Multiplayer and try out or level up new weapons before that next infiltration into the Pacific.

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-024.jpg

Mastercrafts will also appear in Vanguard before the end of the year, starting with the Fire Starter Mastercraft Bundle, featuring the “Helm of Darkness” Assault Rifle Blueprint, which is perfect for the fiery Legendary Skin for Francis within the Battle Pass. An all-around menace that features a deadly Bayonet and Reach Kit combo, this 10-attachment weapon is ready to light up the lobby, especially with its included Incendiary ammunition.

Those who want to look toward the future of CQB combat will want to grab the Enjoy the Retreat Mastercraft Bundle, featuring the “Demo Kit” SMG with heavy-hitting short ammo, where every shot can be vital to your success up close. Expect solid accuracy with this weapon thanks to its barrel and hand stop, as well as a faster fire rate due to the Recoil Booster it has at the muzzle.

Love tracers and gold? Vanguard’s initial bundle offerings will bring back some of the more popular features and styles seen for the past dozen seasons.

Among the initial offerings of tracer packs is the Tracer Pack: Blue Thunder Bundle, which features an SMG and an Assault Rifle fitted with blue tracer rounds. The “Bioluminescence” SMG is built for covert operations, with a silencer and Subsonic ammo able to keep those smaller caliber bullets off the radar, while the “Flame Painted” Assault Rifle is a 10-attachment beast built for long-range combat.

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-025.jpg

Those who rather be regal and auric in dealing damage will want to look at the Noble Death Bundle – its highlights are a Legendary “Imperial” Skin for Constanze and two golden Weapon Blueprints that could be used in a full loadout. Take the “Imperator” Assault Rifle as a Primary Weapon and send silent, yet highly accurate, shots down range, and when the enemy gets too close for comfort, deal with them with the fully-automatic “Executor” Handgun.

Also expect plenty of Bundles themed around the upcoming Festive Fervor — the in-game event and holiday celebration across Vanguard and Warzone — that will arrive alongside these Mastercrafts.

VANGUARD MULTIPLAYER OVERVIEW

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-026.jpg

- Multiplayer Heads Across the Pacific. Prepare for Paradise, an all-new map based in the Pacific, and remember your Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3 Dome strategies for Radar.

- Control Returns, another Returning Mode Dropping In-Season. The competitive mode will arrive in the launch window of Season One, while veterans of the franchise may want to get in the zone for a festive surprise later in season…

- Get Intuition, Serpentine, and Incendiary Lethal Grenade in Battle Pass Free Tiers. Know your enemy’s position, take less damage on the move, and lock down objectives.

New Maps, Including MW3 Dome Remake Radar

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-027.jpg

Paradise (Launch): A weapons testing site somewhere in the Pacific Ocean hosts all task force Operators for joint exercises. Medium-sized three-lane-style map featuring an underground tunnel and pools of toxic waste.

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-028.jpg

Radar (Launch): A reimagined version of Dome, the classic Modern Warfare 3 map. This small radar station in the Pacific is built for fast-paced combat. Remember to not camp on the catwalks!

Control Returns (Launch Window)

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-029.jpg

Best known as a popular third mode in competitive Call of Duty, Control will see a return in Vanguard Multiplayer in the launch window of Season One.

Control mixes the limited-life nature of Search and Destroy with the objective style of Hardpoint and the elimination-centered gameplay of Team Deathmatch. Two teams alternate between attacking or defending two fixed capture zones on the map with limited respawns. Attackers either have to capture both zones or completely eliminate the Defenders before the time limit.

Another, more respawn-heavy mode, is set to drop during for Festive Fervor, and any veteran since the Modern Warfare 3 days should be prepared to get in the zone for it...

Two New Perks and Incendiary Lethal Grenade for Loadouts

Ready those Loadouts for some new Perks and Equipment.

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-030.jpg

Through the Season One Battle Pass, you can unlock three new options across all Vanguard Loadouts, which are set to rival the already stiff competition between the Lethal Equipment and Perk 1 and 2 slot choices:

Serpentine — Perk 1, Tier 21 of Season One Battle Pass

Sprinting reduces incoming damage.

Breaking out into a regular sprint slightly reduces all damage from ballistics and explosives, while Tactical Sprinting can cut damage by more than a quarter of its normal value.

Intuition — Perk 1, Tier 44 of Season One Battle Pass

Your vision pulses when enemies are nearby, even through walls.

Similar to High Alert in previous games, but with shorter range, Intuition allows you to perceive threats before they round corners or burst through doors. This is done without the need to suppress them like Piercing Range, making it a more passive option for those looking for more close-range engagements.

Special Incendiary Grenade — Lethal Equipment, Tier 39 of Season One Battle Pass

Obscures an area in a white fog and burns those who come close.

A handheld and extremely limited version of the Firebombing Run Killstreak, the Incendiary Grenade deals a small burst of damage within a large radius at the detonation point, then deals burn damage every second to those who stay within its range. This damage scales the longer someone is within the area and lasts for a longer time than its rivals, the Thermite and Molotov Cocktail.

VANGUARD ZOMBIES OVERVIEW

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-031.jpg

-  Prepare for the Purge and New Covenants. A fresh Objective to conquer at season launch, as well as 14 new ways to use those Sacrificial Hearts.

New Objective, Covenants, Weapons, and Challenges

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-032.jpg

Season One introduces a new batch of content for Zombies, as Treyarch adds in a new Objective, new Covenants, new weapons, new Career Challenges, and 20 Season Challenges on December 8.

New Objective: Purge

Eradicate the Augmentors from this plane of existence in Purge, the newest Objective coming to “Der Anfang.” These aethereal worms feed on the dimensional energy that powers Kortifex, and can only be stopped by capturing powerful Control Runes. But beware: the Augmentors will spawn waves of enemies as a defense mechanism as you attempt to purge them from our dimension.

Prepare to take on this Objective among those already available from launch across all arenas, from Stalingrad to Shi No Numa. Earn a new Sacrificial Heart with each completion to spend at the Altar of Covenants.

14 New Covenant Upgrades

Fourteen powerful upgrades across five new Covenants are coming for those ready to stop Kortifex’s forces, including one that calls back to a classic Zombies Perk:

- Brimstone: Deal damage to nearby enemies (Rare/Epic/Legendary Rarity).

- Deadshot: Aiming down sights snaps the crosshairs to headshot location on enemies. Bonus damage on first crit for each enemy. Removes weapon sway (Rare/Epic Rarity).

- Dead Wire: Stuns enemy (Rare/Epic Rarity). Stuns enemy and nearby enemies (Legendary Rarity).

- Scrapper: Gain more Salvage from pickups (Rare/Epic Rarity). Gain more Salvage from pickups and Objective rewards (Legendary Rarity).

- Swift Vengeance: Deal more damage the faster you move. Activates shortly after you start moving. Fire while sprinting (Rare/Epic Rarity). Activates immediately upon moving (Legendary Rarity).

The Big Guns Are Here — Season One Weapons and Launchers Inbound

Ready to blast away the hordes with a Bazooka or the Panzerschreck? How about an anti-tank rifle?

Season One’s newest weapons — the Cooper Carbine, Gorenko Anti-Tank Rifle, and Sawtooth melee weapon — will become available in Zombies Loadouts once they’re unlocked in the Battle Pass system. Watch for them to join the Mystery Box rotation later in the season, as well.

All four Launchers will also be available in Loadouts and the Mystery Box for Zombies at the start of Season One, adding another layer of strategy for surviving Kortifex’s legions. Be sure to equip Splatterfest at the Altar of Covenants and let the rockets fly.

New Zombies Career Challenges and Season Challenges

Earn unique Calling Cards and XP bonuses by conquering new sets of Zombies Career Challenges in Season One, which will offer more ways to test your undead-slaying skills in “Der Anfang.”

Zombies players can also unlock and complete 20 new Season Challenges at the start of the season to earn even more XP and Calling Card rewards throughout the season.

Coming Soon: The Tome of Rituals, New Area, Support Killstreaks, Holiday Updates and More

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-033.jpg

Treyarch is preparing new Zombies updates for after the new year, which will include more content and features:

- The Tome of Rituals. Your Artifacts will be able to grow in power through the Tome of Rituals, offering greater Dark Aether abilities to aid in your survival.

- Von List’s Office. Few know what Von List is hiding in his personal quarters, but it may offer clues as to Kortifex’s plans. Dark secrets may also be waiting beyond a mysterious new portal…

- Support Killstreaks. The devastating Warmachine and Deathmachine will be ready to help you fight the rotting masses, so long as you have the Salvage to spare at the Crafting Table (or get lucky at the Mystery Box).

- Additional Features. New weapon unlock challenges, Mystery Box weapon updates, Server Pause functionality, and more are planned for later in Season One, including festive new holiday theming in Stalingrad. Speaking of which...

’Tis the Season for Prestige: Season One Challenges and Events

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-034.jpg

Season One launch is the kickoff for the Festive Fervor celebrations to come, as well as all the pulse-pounding free content when the new year arrives.

Expect more intel about Festive Fervor later this month. And as you prepare for the holidays, remember that the season of Prestige is upon us!

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-035.jpg

At the start of Season One, your Season Level will refresh to Level 1 and your progress will resume from the highest Prestige Level you achieved previously — three, if you reached the top level during the pre-season.

Starting with Season One, every 10 levels within Prestige offers a new Zombies and a Multiplayer/Warzone Pacific Challenge to complete for XP and a Calling Card. Complete all 20 within a seasonal set for that game mode to unlock an incredible animated Calling Card that shows off your elite abilities.

This season offers four additional Prestiges to achieve across the first 200 levels, as well as a new Weapon Blueprint:

- Level 50: New Prestige, Emblem, Weapon Blueprint, and Battle Pass Tier Skip

- Level 100: New Prestige, Emblem, and Battle Pass Tier Skip

- Level 150: New Prestige, Emblem, and Battle Pass Tier Skip

- Level 190: All Season Challenges Available

- Level 200: New Prestige, Emblem, Battle Pass Tier Skip, Master Prestige Calling Card

- Levels 250–1,000: Ability to earn additional Prestige Levels, if they were not reached during the pre-season.

Remember: Your Prestige-leveling journey is synchronized between Vanguard and Warzone Pacific, meaning you can progress through Season Levels and increase your Prestige Level by earning XP in either game!

THE LAST HOURS OF VERDANSK — HEAD TO WARZONE NOW!

VGD-S1-ANNOUNCEMENT-036.jpg

At 9 PM PT on December 7, the Verdansk we knew will be gone.

Operators should prepare to infiltrate the Last Hours of Verdansk, a limited-time mode in Warzone starting tomorrow that contains exclusive rewards for participation and victory. Those who want to play on Verdansk one last time may want to join this explosive finale, where bunkers are your only safe haven from what will come.

Remember: after 9 PM PT on December 7, the Warzone servers will shut down alongside the Season One Update. They will be back online at 9 AM PT December 8, where Vanguard owners can drop into Caldera and everyone can get back to Rebirth Island for the start of Warzone Pacific.

Rise on every front.
