Guide to Understanding and Using Crystallization Catalysts in The First Descendant

Crystallization Catalysts are some of the vital resources used for optimizing character builds in The First Descendant. Similar to Amorphous Material, these items might be a bit challenging to find but are extremely crucial as you delve deeper into the game. If you've been scouting for Crystallization Catalysts for an extended period without success, this guide will show you how to obtain and utilize them in TFD.

How to Obtain Crystallization Catalysts

There are primarily three ways to obtain Crystallization Catalysts:

  1. Obtaining two of them on the Premium reward track of the Pre-season Battle Pass
  2. Purchasing them from the in-game shop for 300 Caliber
  3. Conducting research through Magisters Anais in Albion

The former two methods demand spending some cash, so it's advisable to research them instead. Anais is situated in western Albion, connect with her, and you'll locate the option to research Crystallization Catalysts under 'Enhancement Materials'.

Here are the materials and Mastery Rank needed for research:

  • 1 Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint
  • Mastery Rank: Research Available at Rank 1
  • 8 Murky Energy Residue
  • 22 Macromolecule Biogel
  • 8 Mix Energy Residue
  • 18 Advanced Neural Circuit
  • 187,500 Gold

Utilizing Crystallization Catalysts

Crystallization Catalysts are utilized to alter the Socket types of your Descendant or weapon Modules. By coordinating a Module to a slot with an identical Socket type, its Capacity Cost becomes halved. This essentially diminishes the capacity drain of the Module.

Here's how to apply them:

  1. Open your inventory and choose the Descendant Module or weapon Module you desire to apply to
  2. Select ‘Module Additional Settings,’ and then ‘Assign Module Socket Type‘
  3. Deliberately select the Socket Module type and apply it to the slot equipped with a module with an identical symbol

By accurately matching the symbols, your build becomes more efficient. Nevertheless, committing an error will result in the Capacity Cost rising by 50%. Before commencing the assignment of Socket types, consider trying out other Descendants.
