Significant Changes Loom Over Destiny 2's Crucible Mode

With the impending October launch of Destiny 2's Episode: Revenant, game developer Bungie is rolling out key changes to its Crucible mode. Updates will center around balancing the rules of lobby compositions and weapon varieties, including adjustments - colloquially known as nerfs - to certain Hand Cannons and Auto Rifles. User interface enhancements, modification to map rotation, and curbing the issue of crouch spamming within the game are all on the agenda as part of the quality-of-life changes.

Episode: Revenant Update - More than Meets the Eye

Bungie looks beyond just launching new content in Destiny 2's Episode: Revenant. The game is set for major overhauls at the end of the current Episode. With the conclusion of the Echoes storyline, the focus will shift back to the Scorn and their leader, Fikrul the Fanatic in Episode Revenant. To ensure the gaming experience continues to be thrilling, Bungie is deploying impactful changes to the game. Key among these is the abolition of time gating the story, allowing players to experience Episode Revenant in their own time. Subclass abilities and roaming supers would undergo major adjustments, with Titans being transformed into the classic tank roles previously visualized by many Destiny 2 enthusiasts. This is besides the significant changes set for the game's player versus player (PvP) mode.

Major Overhauls In Crucible's Gameplay

In a detailed blog post, Bungie unveiled sweeping changes to Destiny 2's Crucible mode. The studio proposed new balancing rules for team composition in the lobbies with the objective of creating balance and preventing preformed fireteams from splitting up. The updates in Episode Revenant will also include tweaks to various weapon types such as Adaptive Hand Cannons, Auto Rifles, and High-Impact Pulse Rifles which will be nerfed. Bungie also plans to boost certain underperforming weapons: Adaptive Submachine Guns, Precision Hand Cannons, and High-Impact Auto Rifles are among the few. Changes to Special and Heavy weapons are also in the pipeline.

Changes in Destiny 2's Episode Revenant extend beyond sandbox level refinements. Bungie announced the reintroduction of Solitude into the map rotation with revamped geometry and spawn locations for an enhanced overall gaming experience. Solitude will find its way into Destiny 2's Competitive and 6v6 playlists, although it will be initially kept out of Trials as Bungie waits for player feedback.

UI enhancements are also in line for Episode Revenant. Class icons will replace Guardian Ranks for Destiny 2 characters on display to facilitate a smooth in-match experience. Newer callouts including an "Assisted By" message will be added where a weapon icon indicates the type of finishing weapon used. The existing Mercy Rule will be amplified in scope to prevent drawn-out games once the mercy window closes.

Lastly, Bungie will finally implement a limit on crouch spamming, another much-awaited change for Destiny 2 gamers. Launching with Episode: Revenant, this limitation will curb the frequency of players activating it, thereby eliminating the rapid crouch spamming during gun fights without abandoning the strategic maneuver entirely. This update has been met with substantial positivity from the Destiny 2 community.
