Fortnite Introduces Tactical Gaming with Ballistic
Fortnite expands its gaming landscape by introducing Ballistic, an immersive first-person gaming experience slated for early access on December 11. This highly strategic, round-based 5v5 game thrives on potent combinations of teamwork, strategy, and individual skills. The thrill spikes every round as players scramble for control over the battlefield after perfecting their strategies.
The First Look - On To the Battlefield
Early access to Ballistic unfolds with the inclusion of the Skyline 10 map, a weapon arsenal, and a handful of items. Developers promise regular updates, including new maps, features, and game tools, based on player feedback and observations during the initial stages.
This thrilling 5v5 match is a no-build mode, emphasizing strategic combat and cozy teamwork. Following the regular Fortnite play, all your Locker presets, emotes, sprays, and costumes will find their way to this realm. Certain components like Vehicles, Jam Tracks, Contrails, or Instruments would not come into play during the Ballistic matches, ensuring the focus stays on the tactical gameplay.
Ballistic Goes Global
Upon going live on December 11, Ballistic will be accessible across all platforms supporting Fortnite, barring South Korea and Russia. Efforts are being made to add these regions to the roaster, with updates expected soon.
A Deeper Dive into Ballistic Gameplay
On entering a Ballistic match, players spawn into two teams – attackers or defenders. Attackers race against time to plant a Rift Point Device at designated map sites, while defenders focus on eliminating attacker’s efforts. The round ends when the Rift Point Device detonates or when a team is entirely wiped out. After 6 rounds, the tables turn, giving each team a taste of the other’s role.
Tools for Survival
Every match commences with each player having a Ranger Pistol and 800 Credits. These Credits can be used to purchase additional gear at the start of each round. Any reused items and gear get transferred to the following round, excluding consumed items. The Rift Point Device takes a quick 45 seconds to detonate after its planting. A strategic retreat is advisable unless you want to risk your gear and shields accidentally.
Special Flex Gadgets
With every new game, players can select one out of the five available Flex Gadgets, modifiable as per their exact battle strategy. The use of this tool is exclusive to the player, and it cannot be swapped or taken by other players. Used wisely, a Flex Gadget can dramatically shift the round's endgame, granting the user a massive advantage.
Ranked and Unranked Play
Ballistic provides Unranked play for casual or practice matches, where there are no penalties for players who drop out, and games will backfill; additionally, servers can be retained post-match. For a more competitive experience, Ranked matches create the right environment. However, leaving a Ranked match prematurely could result in a temporary ban.
Ranked matchmaking is centered on the average rank of the gamer's party, influencing the rank gained or lost based on a player's performance in-game. Unlike Rank Battle Royale and Reload, Ballistic offers an intensified competitive experience with rank changes determined by wins, losses, kills, assists, and in-match behavior.
Customize Your Game Play
Ballistic offers you a level of customization to enhance gameplay. Under Game UI in the Settings menu, the 'Reticle & Damage Feedback' option allows changes that suit your style. Options include showing spread for weapon accuracy in First Person mode or displaying recoil after shots are fired.
Come December 11, 2024, Ballistic early access launches, ready to redefine strategic first-person battle experiences on Fortnite.
