Halo Infinite Gears Up for 2024 Winter Update with Operation: Great Journey
20 years after Halo 2 made its grand entry, Halo Infinite is ringing in the anniversary with Operation: Great Journey. Kicking off the winter update of 2024, Halo fans can expect to see numerous exciting changes and additions, including new weapon and sandbox updates, Operation Pass, a playlist influenced by Halo 2, and Forge updates.
Operation: Great Journey Revealed
Enthusiasts can anticipate an energizing time with the introduction of this new Operation. With Operation: Great Journey, a new free 20-tier Operation Pass will be launched. Active participants can earn progress via Match XP and potentially unlock the Thremaleon armor set. Designed with inspiration from Rtas 'Half-Jaw” 'Vadum — a former Special Operations commander of the Covenant, the armor has been custom-crafted by Kolaar Manufactorum for Spartans selected to join the Swords of Sanghelios special forces.
By upgrading to the Premium Pass, players can secure the Veteran SRS99 weapon model, aligned with Halo 2’s sniper rifle, and Damascus Alchemy weapon coating. With non-expiring features and a bonus XP offering, the Premium Pass is a worthy option at 500 credits. A quick unlock of all 20 tiers at purchase can be realized for 2,000 credits, and it includes an exclusive bonus item for customization.
New Weapon Alert: MA5K Avenger
Originally flaunted on the cover of Halo: Ghosts of Onyx, MA5K Avenger is now rolling into Halo Infinite. Manufactured by Misriah Armory, this fully automatic rifle with increased magazine size brings a high rate of fire. Sporting a 60-round magazine and an expedited ready-up and reload time, the MA5K Avenger is the weapon of choice for enhanced run-and-gun gameplay.
Playlist and Ranked Updates
An exciting Halo 2-inspired playlist has rolled out featuring fan-favorite maps and movements, including Delta Arena and Ascension. Two new maps, Inquisitor and Fortress, now enrich the Ranked gameplay. Keeping the legacy of community feedback alive, beloved battlefields have been recreated in Forge, ensuring the tastes of Halo veterans are catered for.
Firefight Shifts Perspective and Forge Improvements
Firefight: King of the Hill is back with an unfamiliar outlook – third-person view. Available in matchmaking modes, this new perspective unearths a fresh dimension to the gameplay. Additionally, several commendable Forge updates are on the way — from improved forger attribution to adding voice lines of Spartan Commander Laurette Agryna to the scripting node in Forge.
Sandbox Updates
Halo Infinite's sandbox is enriched by many changes, thanks to valuable player feedback. Highlight updates include modified VK78 Commando properties for more consistent bullet management, moderated efficiency of MK50 Sidekick in extended ranges, visibility of flag objects while being carried with Active Camo, and disabling weapon usage and reticle briefly during the Thruster movement.
With this Winter Update, Halo Infinite promises to deliver a unique and thrilling gaming experience to its users, honoring the legacy while still looking forward to exciting new developments.
