Overwatch 2: Hazard Joins the Battle with Early Access Playtest This Weekend

TL;DR: Blizzard Entertainment introduces Hazard, a dynamic new power-tank character, to Overwatch 2's roster ahead of its 14th season. Unveiled in a cinematic where Hazard orchestrates a heist on the University map of Oasis, the character demonstrates impressive abilities using a mysterious black substance, including wielding a rail gun, a purple blade, and launching purple spikes. Players can test Hazard's capabilities during an early playtest from November 22nd to 25th, preceding Hazard's official launch next month. More details on Hazard's background and skillset are anticipated as the playtest approaches.

Overwatch 2 Set to Unveil its Newest Addition: "Hazard"

In an exciting update from Blizzard Entertainment, Overwatch 2 is set to introduce a fresh character, a power-tank named Hazard, to its continually expanding roster of heroes. This exhilarating development comes with the announcement that Hazard will be available for players to test out as early as this weekend.

A Sneak Peek into Hazard's Adventures

Blizzard Entertainment graced the gaming community with a new cinematic, setting the stage for Hazard, the formidable new hero. Hazard is showcased by implementing a daring heist on the University map of Oasis. Accompanied by two allies, the heroic trio endeavors to secure a mysterious black substance. As the unexpected intervention of security forces threatens their plan, they seize control of the fast-unraveling situation.

In a thrilling twist, Hazard's Omnic comrade administers the stolen substance to him, triggering an impressive display of Hazard's power. With the new-form energy, the tank gains the command of purple spikes, displayed as he assaults the guards with a rail gun, brandishes a purple blade from his left arm, conjures a large purple rock, and launches immense quantities of purple spikes, providing a fascinating insight into what could potentially be Hazard's skillset.

Hazard Early Play Test, Official Launch Follows

Complementing the electrifying cinematic debut, Blizzard disclosed that players could look forward to having Hazard at their control in an early play-test this weekend. This approach follows Overwatch's custom of premiering its heroes before their official launch, pointing toward Hazard’s introduction in the game's 14th season due next month.

Hazard's arrival was subtly hinted at last month during the reveal trailer for the game's 13th season, showing the aftermath of his daring raid. While Hazard’s character appears to draw inspiration from an initial Overwatch hero concept named Phreak, the name seems to have been incorporated as the label for Hazard's team.

Blizzard is expected to shed more light on Hazard's backstory and gameplay kit leading up to the preliminary playtest. The playtest is scheduled to commence this Friday, 22nd November, and continue until the 25th of November.
