Understanding Once Human: A Post-Apocalyptic Survival Game
Once Human, a newly launched post-apocalyptic survival game offers a unique gaming experience with its original monsters, named Deviations, and human players referred to as Metas. The game allows you to explore a vast open world and offers an exciting storyline to unravel. However, the main challenge lies in maneuvering through the game's world, especially due to the heated discussion around Once Human's controller support.
Once Human's Controller Support Debacle
As interesting as Once Human's gaming environment is, the question that has captivated its fanbase since its launch is about controller options. As it stands, the game, unfortunately, does not support controllers. According to the developers' blog post-release, the inability to incorporate controller support at the time of launch was mainly due to ongoing technical adjustments.
However, there is a possibility that this highly demanded-feature could be included in the future. The adaptation of a controller support system would be ideal for this third-person shooter game. But currently, it's solely keyboard and mouse. The Once Human development team has plans to include controller support later, with the projected timeline pointing to August.
The Issue of Once Human's Steam Deck Availability
Once Human's situation with Steam Deck availability shares a common thread with its controller support - neither is optimal at this stage. While there could be potential workaround solutions with emulators, the absence of enhanced optimization can be a deal-breaker for some gamers.
Still, there is a plethora of activities to engage in within the game. Even constrained to a keyboard and mouse setup, in-game tasks like unlocking free content with Once Human codes or solving passcodes, should provide sufficient diversion until the developers at Starry Studio roll out the eagerly awaited controller update.
Game Patches and Crashing Errors
In addition to the impending controller support, Once Human is also slated to receive multiple quality-of-life patches. Recent reports have pointed to crashing errors, suggesting that urgent hotfixes may be implemented for smoother gameplay.
In spite of these minor hurdles, Once Human promises an immersive gaming experience, filled with monstrous Deviations to battle and secrets to uncover in its expansive open world. The post-apocalyptic survival genre may not be new, but with its unique elements, Once Human manages to shape its own distinct identity.
