McArthur "Cellium" Jovel of the Atlanta FaZe was named the 2022 Call of Duty League Most Valuable Player ahead of day two of the CDL Championship. Shotzzy and teammate Simp were the previous two CDL MVPs, but with his victory, Cellium joins them in the list of CDL MVPs. Tsay said that Cellium received 90% of the first-place votes, defeating Dashy and Kenny of OpTic Texas and Los Angeles Thieves, respectively.
In an attempt at making history in Call of Duty esports, Cellium and FaZe have been attempting to win their second consecutive world championship title. Atlanta was the top seed at the CDL Championship after a mediocre regular season in which the team reached three of four Major finals, as the squad was unable to win any.
Cellium stood out above the rest this season, with a 1.25 Hardpoint K/D ratio, a 1.20 K/D in Search and Destroy, and a 1.18 K/D in Control. He achieved these high figures in all game modes, which helped his team earn a league-leading 68-percent win rate.
FaZe began their 2022 CDL Champs appearance shakily, losing the first two maps to the New York Subliners before completing a reverse sweep. Cellium led Atlanta in K/D in both Hardpoint and Control, as well as posting a 1.30 K/D in Search and Destroy. They followed up this achievement by defeating Seatle yesterday in a hard-fought battle that normally saw FaZe losing out during the regular season.
