The Overwatch League has made changes to the format of the 2023 playoffs, leading to frustration among coaches and players. The playoffs now consist of a group stage and a single-elimination stage, with seeding determined through a draft rather than regular season performance. This has resulted in uneven regional balance and advantages for certain teams in map picks. Coaches and players have expressed frustration with these changes, calling them unfair and questioning the competitive advantage they give. The playoffs are set to begin on September 28.
