After an inaugural season upended by the COVID-19 pandemic and a 2021 season forced almost completely online due to the disease, the Call of Duty League finally got to complete a full season without any league-altering hiccups in 2022. Although a far cry from the “world tour” the CDL initially planned to take its 12 teams on in 2020, which would have featured 24 events in four countries in less than seven months, the league did manage to pull off a preseason tournament, four Major LAN events, a midseason crossover with its second-tier Challengers scene, and a $2.55 million end-of-year extravaganza in the shadow of Hollywood.
