[Discussion] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Leaked Promos Tease Fans With New Installment

Recommended Posts

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Confirmed?

In the whirlwind world of gaming, Modern Warfare 3, the next installment in the beloved Call of Duty franchise, has been stirring up quite a buzz. Following a barrage of leaks, the developer found itself in a position where the best way to respond was with a touch of humor and subtle acknowledgment.

Energy Drink Fuels the Rumor Mill

A storm brewed when Twitter user algebra_sloth posted images of Monster Energy drink boxes adorned with artwork and the logo for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. The artwork, featuring Captain Price, hinted at a potential promotional campaign by Monster Energy for the yet-to-be-announced game. The tweet has since been deleted but not before it was spotted and reported by TheSixthAxis.

Developer Acknowledges the Buzz

In a refreshing twist, Call of Duty's creators didn't dismiss the leaks. Recognizing that such incidents are not uncommon, Activision and Infinity Ward decided to embrace the speculation. They playfully tweeted, "Whew. Mondays. Anyone have an energy drink they can spare?" This witty nod towards the Monster Energy leak wasn't their only response, as they also engaged fans tweeting about the potential new game.

Fueling Fan Excitement

The developers didn't stop there. They later tweeted, "III reasons why you play Call of Duty. GO." The "III reasons" appear to be a cheeky reference to the Modern Warfare III leaks. It seems the developer is more than happy to ride the wave of fan excitement - and who can fault them for that?

A New Chapter or an Expansion?

Early in the previous year, reports suggested that 2023 would be a break in the yearly release cycle for the Call of Duty franchise, making it the first year since 2005 without a new CoD game. However, later reports hinted at a possible Modern Warfare 2 expansion in the works for 2023.

Given the recent leaks, it's possible that what was initially planned as an expansion could have evolved into a full-fledged Modern Warfare III game. Alternatively, it might still be a significant addition to Modern Warfare 2. Either way, if the leaks hold true, players could soon find themselves immersed in the action-packed world of Modern Warfare 3. Until then, fans eagerly await an official confirmation from the developers.

I won't deny that I am going to be a little disappointed if this does end up being true. I think so many of us who used to be big Call of Duty fans are waiting for something completely new and something that ended up being why we loved Call of Duty in the first place but it seems if this does come to fruition that may not be the case at least as of yet.
