AI's Top 10 FPS Games: Do You Agree?

Recommended Posts

The realm of first-person shooters (FPS) has given us countless classics over the years, each contributing to the genre in its unique way. To get a new perspective, we posed a question to an AI: "What are the top ten all-time FPS games?" Here's what the AI came up.

  1. Half-Life 2 (Valve)
Not only a technical marvel when it was released but also a game-changer in terms of narrative and environmental storytelling in the FPS genre.
  2. DOOM (1993) (id Software)
Often hailed as the granddaddy of FPS games, it laid the groundwork for the genre and introduced many to 3D gaming.
  3. Counter-Strike (Originally a mod for Half-Life, later acquired by Valve)
Its competitive gameplay set the stage for future eSports titles and remains a benchmark for team-based shooters.
  4. Bioshock (Irrational Games)
Recognized for its atmospheric world, deep narrative, and blending of FPS with RPG elements.
  5. Quake (id Software)
Another groundbreaking title from id Software that introduced full real-time 3D rendering and is considered the precursor to modern eSports.
  6. GoldenEye 007 (Rare)
A seminal console FPS that proved the genre could work outside of PCs and introduced many to multiplayer shooter gameplay.
  7. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Infinity Ward)
With its gripping campaign and addictive multiplayer, it ushered in a new era of modern military shooters.
  8. Halo: Combat Evolved (Bungie)
Revolutionized FPS gameplay on consoles, offering an engaging story and introducing the beloved Master Chief.
  9. Wolfenstein 3D (id Software)
Often credited as one of the earliest FPS games, it paved the way for titles like DOOM.
  10. Titanfall 2 (Respawn Entertainment)
Blended fluid pilot combat with mech warfare, offering one of the most critically acclaimed single-player campaigns in recent FPS history.

How could someone create a top ten list of FPS games without including games like PUBG? But then this is AI generated list, so we can forgive it as it does not have a brain to think. By the way, my best FPS game is Valorant.

I guess many would argue about PUBG being an FPS being that it can be played either First Person or Third Person. It would seem that this list here added those that are just FPS games which would make sense.

Valorant is not a game I ever tried if I am honest but I have seen people play it and my eldest has played it too.

I do think the lack of FPS support on PUBG at launch was probably a major factor as @Shortie stated.  The AI might not even have it labeled as an FPS in its data.

Personally, this AI's isn't that bad in my opinion because most of the games are great. There are just few of them I would replace which are ; GoldenEye 007 with Team Fortress 2, Halo: Combat Evolved with Halo Reach, and Wolfenstein 3D with Battlefield 1942
