How do you feel about video game remakes?

Are you for or against?

Are there any good examples?

Some say they are a cash grab but I say even the ones that are done well are just being done to get some cash. Video games are a business.

A lot of negativity towards remakes are usually petty stuff. Once in awhile thereโ€™s an actual bad remake, but those are quite rare.

Usually people get upset because either their meta way of playing was ruined, or any change ruined the entire game. Even if the change was incredibly minor and didnโ€™t change the gameplay.

They are okay in my book.ย  Most remakes are of story driven games that normally just update the visuals and such.ย  I can't see any reason to be against them as they are essentially completely optional for even hardcore fans of the series.

Then there are the really good remakes like the Master Chief Collection that provide not only a remake, but a lot of utility to the players.

Depends on the remakes, I haven't played the FF 7 remake, but I'm on the fence with all the story changes they are doing. No matter the project, there will always be those with issues with it.

I generally like it more when the developers focus on making some new games with new stories, but if it's a game that I really like, as FFVII for example, I don't mind them doing a remake.

Maybe in the future, all this hype about remakes will end when they have nothing else to redo.

I do enjoy video game remakes but they do get a lot of dislike and hate from the gaming community. It really depends on the remake and the title of the video game. Sometimes even minor changes can ruin the entire gaming experience and it can actually backfire, creating really bad reputation for the game developers.ย

They will just start remaking the remakes at some point.

I am curious how the industry will handle remaking live service games.ย  It is only a matter of time.

I don't mind remakes as long as it is a game that others want to see as a remake.

An example would be The Simpsons' Hit and Run or The Simpsons' Road Rage, both of which, gamers have wanted to see remakes of but nothing yet.ย

I am all for remakes if it helps the developers stay in business.ย

As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing wrong with getting video games remakes. The most important thing is for the game that's been remade to make sense in its whole sense and they shouldn't rush it. I've played remakes that are very good like Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Resident Evil 4 Remake.ย
