I have a custom built. Sucks that it is so difficult to upgrade right now, but to me, itโ€™s worth waiting for. Just need to find some DDR5โ€ฆ

Seems to be a common problem, hopefully things will get better. I really hope that DDR5 will overcome the shortages as it isn't really needed for minging and really can be passed by many people.ย  So maybe, just maybe... But probably not. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Guess Iโ€™ll be sitting on these parts for a while. Bring a PC is rough sometimes.

My one friend has been trying to build a PC for over a year now and still hasn't been able to get everything in.

It is particularly difficult to get a GPU right now, at least for a reasonable price. A GTX 1650 that cost less than $200 in early 2020 is now easily $550-600. It's really crazy!

My husband and I both have laptops however, he has built us a customized PC dedicated to just gaming. It's been a few years since the initial build I imagine we will want to upgrade some of the components soon.ย

That is one of the best features of a custom built machine.ย  Being able to upgrade it years down the road instead of needing to buy a new system.

This is actually why most people try as much as possible to stay away from trying to build their own PC. You would eventually end up struggling with upgrading it. Prebuilt works fine for me. Maybe in the future, building my own will be a lot feasible.ย

I at the moment have a prebuilt PC that I have had for just over 5 years. It was something I got back in early 2018 so that I could not only play games but also stream Xbox and Nintendo Switch games as well.ย

My next one will more than likely be prebuilt as well as I find that easier than buying all the parts and having to put it together myself, less chance of something going wrong.ย

It's been with me the use of prebuilt PC's ever since I started using one. They have been good because I make sure to get the best specifications in what I need. But after seeing what Ford was able to do in his favourite activity thread on SCF, Mehn, I was so impressed. I read to built one for myself.ย

The first computer I used was a custom-built one. However, it was for general purposes (not a gaming computer). In the last 10 years or more, I have been using pre-built laptop. However, I am thinking of getting a custom-built computer. I want a high-end gaming PC.

If you have the knowledge on how to build your own custom PC, it's definitely going to be better because you're going to make sure that everything you wanted in the PC's specifications will be looked out for. Although, it's going to be more expensive but it's going to be worth it.ย

I built my PC myself, so custom for me! I think it really depends on you. If youโ€™re into PCs, then custom is the one for you, but if you donโ€™t really care too much about the hardware, then pre-built works just fine.

I haven't checked if prices went back to how it "used to be", but before the custom builts were cheaper, but I opted for a pre-built because it was cheaper than custom at the time.

You should use whatever you get your hands on, because at the end of the day, the people that matter to you don't care what you're using.

Exactly how I took it. I would have loved to build mine costom made but unfortunately I lack in the technical know how of doing it, so I'm stuck with pre-built one's. They get the job done anyways.ย

When youโ€™re on a site like PC Parts Picker, you might need some knowledge to know what specs you need beforehand. Basically if you donโ€™t know what CPU, GPU, or how much RAM you need. Though if you know what you need on the specs, the site gives you a list of what components go with what. So if you pick a case and the CPU, it tells you what motherboard fits in that case, along with the PSU etc.

When it comes to actually putting it together, itโ€™s basically expensive Legoโ€™s. A lot of components only have a limited amount of places to go into. So if something isnโ€™t working, usually you didnโ€™t put it in all the way.

The irony I see in the PC gaming community, is the duality of how they portraying building a PC. Iโ€™ve seen a ton of people pretend that it requires big brain stuff to put together, but when someoneโ€™s concerned about it being hard, they 180 and tell you how easy it isโ€ฆ
