  2. They are okay in my book.  Most remakes are of story driven games that normally just update the visuals and such.  I can't see any reason to be against them as they are essentially completely optional for even hardcore fans of the series.

Then there are the really good remakes like the Master Chief Collection that provide not only a remake, but a lot of utility to the players.

  3. As reported Windows Central Treyarch is reportedly preparing to launch a new addition to the Call of Duty franchise, set to be another sequel in the Black Ops series. Slated for release in 2024, this latest installment is said to take players back to the early 1990s, specifically during the Gulf War. This setting promises a departure from the futuristic elements seen in some of the previous titles, focusing instead on the era's standard military technology. Treyarch is expected to offer a nuanced perspective of the war, featuring the special ops aspect of the conflict, a hallmark of the Black Ops series.

Zombies Mode: A Classic Returns with a Twist

A major highlight for fans of the series is the anticipated return of the round-based Zombies mode in the upcoming Black Ops game. While the specific format of this mode remains under wraps, there's speculation that it could either stick to the traditional round-based Zombies format or explore something more expansive, akin to Black Ops Cold War's Outbreak mode. This uncertainty suggests Treyarch may be experimenting with new concepts to keep this beloved mode fresh and engaging for both longtime fans and new players.

Early Access Expanding: More Content, Sooner

In an intriguing shift in its release strategy, Activision is reportedly planning to expand the early access model for the upcoming Call of Duty game. Following the trend set by Modern Warfare 2 and 3, where players could access the campaign early through digital pre-orders, this new approach could extend to other game modes, including Zombies. The early access period might also be lengthened, potentially offering players access to parts of the game weeks in advance rather than just a few days. This strategy not only builds anticipation but also provides dedicated fans with more opportunities to dive into the game ahead of its official release, slated for the usual late-fall slot next year.

  4. Fans of the Call of Duty series have reason to celebrate as the iconic map Shipment makes its return in Modern Warfare 3. Known for its fast-paced and intense gameplay, Shipment is a staple of the franchise, appearing in several previous titles. Its inclusion in MW3's Season One, confirmed by Sledgehammer Games, is a nostalgic nod to the series' rich history, promising to deliver the familiar, exhilarating combat experience that players have come to love.

Expanding the MW3 Experience with a Mix of Old and New Maps

In addition to Shipment, Modern Warfare 3 is set to introduce a variety of maps, including five new arenas specifically designed for a two-on-two game mode, reminiscent of the intense Warzone Gulag battles. These additions complement the four carry-forward maps from Modern Warfare 2, offering a perfect blend of classic and contemporary settings. The season will also see the debut of the new map Training Facility, adding another layer of excitement and challenge to the game.

Celebrating CoD's Legacy in Modern Warfare 3

The reintroduction of Shipment, along with other fan favorites like Terminal, Afgan, and Estate, underscores the developers' commitment to honoring the legacy of the Call of Duty franchise. These maps are not just layouts for combat; they are chapters in the game's history, each carrying memories and stories from past battles. By bringing these classic maps into the modern era, Modern Warfare 3 is bridging the gap between long-time fans and newcomers, offering a rich, diverse experience that celebrates the best of what Call of Duty has to offer. As the community gears up for another thrilling season, the blend of tradition and innovation in MW3 is set to captivate and engage players worldwide.

The more I hear about MW3 from people the more I am tempted to try it out just to say I have tried it and given it that shot. It may be something I do once I have finished working through the battle pass on Fortnite and completed that.

That would likely be a good approach as they need to figure out some bugs and server issues first.

  6. In a recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Reddit, Sledgehammer Games, the developers behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, tackled various questions from the gaming community. However, they notably skirted around discussing Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM), a topic of significant interest among players. Despite the community's persistent queries about modifying or removing SBMM, the developers, likely bound by directives from Activision, did not address these concerns. Amidst these unaddressed issues, the game's movement, weapons, and maps continue to receive positive feedback from the majority of players.

Upcoming Changes: Non-Disbanding Lobbies and Weapon Meta

One significant change on the horizon for MW3 is the potential return of non-disbanding lobbies, a feature fondly remembered from earlier CoD titles. Sledgehammer Games revealed plans to test non-disbanding lobbies with a select group of players. If successful, this change might be rolled out to all players, reviving the classic Call of Duty experience of continuous play in the same lobby. Additionally, the developers emphasized their focus on weapon balancing, aiming for a dynamic weapon meta that evolves from season to season. This approach is intended to accommodate various playstyles within the community, ensuring both fairness and diversity in gameplay.

Improving Performance and Teasing Future Content

Sledgehammer Games also addressed ongoing technical issues like desync, hitmarker inconsistency, and lag, asserting their commitment to enhancing server and game performance. They confirmed that numerous improvements have already been implemented, with more in the pipeline. Looking forward, players can expect the introduction of shotguns and sniper rifles from past Modern Warfare series in future updates. Moreover, the team is working on another fix for the Gaia "Groot" skin and is continually addressing issues such as packet burst. These updates and fixes indicate Sledgehammer's ongoing efforts to refine the gaming experience and respond to player feedback in Modern Warfare 3.

  7. In an exciting turn of events for fans of both Destiny 2 and The Witcher, Bungie has announced a unique crossover for the upcoming Season of The Wish. Players can look forward to a special addition of cosmetics inspired by the legendary monster-slayer, Geralt of Rivia, from CD Projekt Red's The Witcher series. This crossover represents a thrilling blend of two distinct gaming worlds, bringing a touch of The Witcher's dark fantasy to Destiny 2's sci-fi setting.

    A Bounty of Witcher-Inspired Items

With the launch of Season of The Wish, Destiny 2 players will have the opportunity to adorn their guardians with a variety of Witcher-themed items. The game will introduce new armor ornaments, a Ghost shell, a ship, Sparrow, emote, and finisher, all bearing the distinctive aesthetic of Geralt. This array of items offers players a chance to reimagine their guardians with a touch of Geralt's iconic style, further enriching the Destiny 2 experience with these creative and unique additions.

Upcoming Season and Bungie's Recent Changes

The eagerly awaited Season of The Wish is set to debut on November 28, promising a host of new content and experiences for Destiny 2 players. While the pricing details for these Witcher-inspired cosmetics remain under wraps, anticipation is high among the gaming community. This restructuring comes amidst a period of growth and transformation for the company.

  8. Recent discoveries in the game strings of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III suggest a possible crossover with the iconic TV series, "The Walking Dead." If these findings hold true, we might see characters Rick Grimes and Michonne stepping in as playable Operators in the game.

While there's no official confirmation from the developers yet, the timing seems too coincidental to ignore. Speculation is rife that this crossover could be linked to the upcoming "The Ones Who Live" spin-off from "The Walking Dead" universe, set to premiere on February 25th, 2024.

  9. I have been enjoying the Zombies mode quite a bit.  However, the rest is still iffy.  The gameplay itself has been one of my favorite Call of Duy games, but the SBMM is hard to enjoy in 6v6 and the campaign is a failure at best.  The game itself is still facing some problems with bugs, packet loss is ruining the highly competitive multiplayer, and server issues are your most likely reason to die and lose your gear in Zombies.  There are a bunch of other issues like MW2 guns being added, but all subpar to the new guns which really defeats the entire purpose.

  10. The Call of Duty League is set to ignite enthusiasm among its fans with the announcement of the maps and modes for the upcoming 2024 season. In an intriguing blend of past and present, the league will initially feature exclusively remastered maps from Modern Warfare 2 (2009), now part of Modern Warfare 3, for its initial lineup. This decision marks a significant nod to the franchise's history, evoking a sense of nostalgia while offering a fresh competitive environment.

Modes of Play: A Trio of Competitive Challenges

Continuing with a tried and tested formula, the 2024 season will see players engage in three distinct modes: Hardpoint, Control, and Search and Destroy. Each mode presents its unique strategic and skill challenges, promising a diverse and dynamic competitive landscape. The initial map pool comprises six maps, each carefully selected to enhance the gaming experience across these modes. While this selection currently excludes downloadable content maps, the league has a history of expanding its map pool, leaving the door open for future additions.

Navigating the Dynamics of Classic Maps in Modern Play

The choice of classic maps, while steeped in nostalgia, raises interesting considerations for gameplay, particularly in terms of spawn systems and map dynamics. Certain maps like Terminal and Highrise have been subjects of player feedback regarding their compatibility with updated respawn modes. The league's response to these concerns, including potential adjustments to improve playability in a competitive setting, remains a focal point of interest. Additionally, there's anticipation around the integration of popular maps from the previous year, such as Mercado Las Almas and Farm 18, into the MW3 framework. Whether these additions will materialize, keeping the focus solely on the current game cycle, or if they will bring a familiar terrain back into the competitive fold, is a matter of keen speculation among players and fans alike.

  11. As spotted by Eurogamer, a recent LinkedIn profile update by a former Gearbox Software employee has unintentionally revealed potential sequels to two popular game titles, Borderlands 4 and Tiny Tina's Wonderland 2. Gearbox Software, renowned for its Borderlands series and Tiny Tina's Wonderland spin-off, has left fans eagerly awaiting news of any upcoming installments. The absence of updates since the release of Borderlands 3 in 2019 and Tiny Tina's Wonderland in 2022 has fueled curiosity about the future of these beloved franchises. However, this accidental revelation from a former studio technical director's LinkedIn profile has sparked excitement among fans.

Unveiling the Sequels in a LinkedIn Work History

The LinkedIn profile of the former Gearbox employee provided a surprising glimpse into the studio's plans. Within their work history at Gearbox, the employee had overseen a team and contributed to the development of Borderlands 4 and Tiny Tina's Wonderland 2, utilizing Unreal Engine 4. While this revelation suggests that these titles are indeed in the works, it's important to note that the development process is likely in its early stages. Gamers might need to exercise patience, as it could be several years before these sequels see the light of day.

    The Dilemma of Early Announcements

The accidental leak of Borderlands 4 and Tiny Tina's Wonderland 2 raises questions about when and how game developers should officially announce their projects. In the past, some developers have faced criticism for revealing titles too early in the development cycle. An illustrative example is Bethesda's announcement of Elder Scrolls 6 in 2018, which remains unreleased five years later. Todd Howard, a prominent figure at Bethesda, has expressed regret over the early announcement, attributing it to fan pressure. The extended development time for Starfield suggests that fans may need to exercise patience as they await the release of Elder Scrolls 6.

While the accidental disclosure on LinkedIn has excited fans, it's essential to approach these revelations with cautious optimism. The world of game development is often marked by twists and turns, and the road to release can be a lengthy one. For now, fans of Borderlands and Tiny Tina's Wonderland can eagerly anticipate the future while keeping an eye out for official announcements from Gearbox Software.

  12. Navigating the Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 involves more than just combat; it requires strategic use of resources. Selling loot is a crucial aspect of the game, allowing players to accumulate Zombies points to buy upgrades and improve their chances of survival. This guide will cover how to effectively sell loot in the expansive map of Urzikstan.

Understanding the Importance of Selling Loot

    • Earning Zombies Points: Selling loot is a key method to earn Zombies points, necessary for upgrading weapons and accessing various machines in the game.
    • Exploration and Collection: As you explore Urzikstan, you'll come across various loot items that can be sold.

    Using Buy Stations

    • Location: Buy Stations are scattered across the map and are your go-to spots for selling loot.
    • Functionality Change: Unlike in Warzone, Buy Stations in Zombies mode also offer a "Sell" option.
    • Exclusions: Weapons, consumables, and other lethal or tactical items are not sellable. These items are meant for your direct use in the game.

    What Can Be Sold

    • Sellable Items: Only certain items found during your exploration are sellable.
    • Labeled: Sellable items have a price tag on the lower corner of their icon to indicate that they are valuables.
    • Chunks of Flesh: These are valuables and can be sold (including via the sell-all button), but they are blue in color to indicate they are rare.  The reason for the stand-out color is that flesh has a hidden secondary purpose to summon friendly hellhounds.
    • Deadbolt Turret Circuit Boards: These are labeled as valuables and while they offer a mild sell value (also sold via the sell-all button), these turrets are extremely powerful and also involved in some quests/challenges.
    • Inventory Management: Sellable items can be stacked up to three times in a single inventory slot, helping manage space efficiently.
    • Exceptions: Power-ups, Perks, Crafting Tools, and other similar collectibles cannot be sold.

    Tips for Effective Selling

    • Loot Nearby Boxes and Crates: To maximize efficiency, focus on looting boxes and crates around Buy Stations to quickly sell items without traveling far.
    • Valuable Items: Computer hardware parts often fetch a higher price, so prioritize looting them when found.
    • Sell All Option: Use the 'sell all' feature at Buy Stations to quickly sell all valuables in your bag, potentially saving your life.

    Selling Strategy

    • Focus on Valuable Loot: Target areas rich in high-value loot like computer hardware for better returns.
    • Inventory Management: Regularly visit Buy Stations to prevent over-encumbering and maintain a streamlined inventory.
    • Be Aware of Exclusions: Remember that not everything can be sold; strategize your loot collection accordingly.

    Conclusion

Selling loot in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies is a critical component of the game, providing the currency needed for upgrades and enhancing your gameplay. By strategically using Buy Stations and understanding what items to collect and sell, players can significantly improve their chances of survival in the intense world of Urzikstan. Remember, in the Zombies mode, every decision counts – from the battles you engage in to the loot you decide to sell.

  15. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, players are treated to a vast array of weaponry, combining the arsenal of both MW3 and its predecessor, MW2. While this expansive selection offers a diverse range of options, some players prefer to immerse themselves exclusively in the new content of MW3. For those who wish to tailor their experience to focus on Modern Warfare 3's unique offerings, the Gunsmith feature provides a solution. Managing MW3 Weapon Choices

    1. Browse and Select Weapons: You can now easily browse through the MW3 weapons, see which ones are unlocked, and plan which ones to unlock next.
    2. Track Camo Progression: This filtered view also helps in efficiently tracking the camo progression of MW3 weapons.

  16. Starfield Leveling System Overview

    • XP Acquisition: Players earn experience points (XP) by engaging in various activities within the game. Each action that contributes to your progression also contributes to your XP.
    • Level Up and Skill Points: Gaining XP leads to leveling up, and each level up grants skill points. These points can be used to unlock or upgrade skills from a wide selection of options.

Max Level and Skill Point Utilization

    • Infinite Leveling: In "Starfield," there is no maximum level cap. Players can continue to level up indefinitely, enhancing the longevity of gameplay and character development.
    • Optimal Level for Skill Mastery: To fully unlock and upgrade all skills to their maximum (4th level), players need to reach level 328. Beyond this point, although players can continue leveling up, it won't further enhance skill capabilities.

    New Game Plus System

    • Repeated Playthroughs: The New Game Plus system in "Starfield" allows players to replay the game with the same character, maintaining their progression and reaching even higher levels.

    Late Game Level Scaling

    • Enemy XP and Level: The XP gained from enemies is based on the enemy's level. This level scaling considers two main factors:
      • System Recommended Level: Each system has a recommended level, setting a baseline for enemy levels in that system.
      • Player's Level: Beyond the system's recommended level, the player's level significantly influences the enemy's level, ensuring challenges scale with the player's progression.
    • High-Level XP Farming: For players aiming to reach or surpass level 328, enemies whose levels are close to the player's level will still provide sufficient XP for leveling up at these higher levels.

    Conclusion

The leveling system in "Starfield" offers a unique and extensive experience for players, with no maximum level and an optimal level of 328 for skill mastery. The New Game Plus system further enriches this experience by allowing continuous character progression across multiple playthroughs. Understanding the late-game level scaling is crucial for players targeting high levels, as it ensures a consistent challenge and efficient XP gain. With this guide, players can strategically plan their progression to build the strongest character possible in "Starfield."

  17. Surviving in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Zombies can become increasingly challenging as you progress into higher tiers, where zombies become deadlier and more relentless. To maintain your advantage and increase your chances of survival, mastering the art of outrunning threat level 3 zombies is crucial. In this guide, we'll explore a strategy that involves pairing the Stamina-Up perk with running without a weapon, helping you escape the clutches of these formidable foes.

    Choose the Right Loadout

To effectively outrun Tier 3 zombies, it's essential to start with the right loadout or make adjustments as you progress:

    • Begin with a Single Weapon: When starting the game or entering Tier 3, ensure you only carry one weapon.
    • Discard Unnecessary Weapons: If you initially entered the game with two weapons, make sure to drop your second weapon once you reach Tier 3. This allows you to switch to your fists without needing the time to drop your weapon.
    • Get in the Habit: Practice running without a weapon as normal since many times the situation in tier 3 will be chaos, so make switching to your fists your standard gameplay.
    • There is no "Weight": The game does not limit you by what you are carrying once your fists are out, there is merely one speed and it is faster than having any weapon equipped.  E.g. while your fists are out, you will run the same with an LMG in your bag or an SMG.

    Acquire the Stamina-Up Perk

Stamina-Up is a perk that significantly boosts your running speed, making it easier to outrun zombies. Here's how to get it:

    • Locate the Perk Machine: In most maps, you'll find a Perk Machine that dispenses Stamina-Up. The machine's location can vary, so explore the map thoroughly to find it.
    • Loot the Perk: You can also find this perk via loot from contracts and special locations.
    • Craft the Perk: Once you find the Stamina-Up Perk Schematic via tier 1 contracts, you can craft this perk before dropping into the game and be ready from the start. This investment will greatly enhance your running capabilities in future games.

    Sprint Strategically

With your single weapon and the Stamina-Up perk, you're now ready to outrun Tier 3 zombies. Follow these sprinting tips:

    • Identify Safe Routes: Memorize the map layout and identify safe routes where you can lead zombies in circles without getting trapped. Maps often have areas that are conducive to kiting zombies.
    • Leave Vehicles to Escape: Vehicles are quite overpowered in Zombies and ensuring you have one nearby and ready to jump into at any time can save your game.  Pro Tip: get into the vehicle from the passenger side as it helps prevent being downed during the entry process.
    • Zigzag and Juke: When a zombie gets too close, use zigzagging and quick turns to juke them. This can buy you precious seconds to regain distance.
    • Use Grenades and Special Weapons: While running, use grenades and special weapons to thin out the horde. This can make it easier to outrun the remaining zombies. Decoy tactical grenades are very powerful in higher tiers and can be refilled at ammo resupply sites.
    • Team Coordination: If you're playing with a team, coordinate your movements and distractions to help each other outrun zombies effectively.

    Stay Aware

Survival in Tier 3 depends on your situational awareness:

    • Keep an Eye on Your Surroundings: Continuously scan the environment for obstacles and other players to avoid getting cornered or trapped.
    • Be Prepared for Emergencies: Have a plan for when things go wrong. This could involve using a special ability or making a quick escape route.
    • Communicate with Your Team: If playing with others, communicate your position and status to ensure everyone is on the same page.

    Conclusion

Outrunning Tier 3 zombies in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Zombies requires a combination of not having a weapon equipped, the Stamina-Up perk, and smart gameplay strategies. By following these tips, you'll increase your chances of surviving the relentless zombie hordes and progressing deeper into the game. Remember, practice makes perfect, so don't be discouraged if it takes a few attempts to master this skill. Good luck, and may you survive the zombie apocalypse!

This is something that I have said for the longest time should have been implemented in the early days. I have lost count of how many times I was in a game or my kids were in a game and some of the stuff that was coming over voice chat was just uncalled for and very inappropriate.

I am very happy to see this is now implemented and ready to use 🙂

Yes, this is a great feature for most games and those aimed at kids truly need a way to at least try and protect them in voice chat.

I am not using an Xbox at the moment. Somewhere I've still got my Xbox 360, lying around in a box stashed away. I'll have to dig through and find it to see whether it'll still start up and whether any of the games are still working. I can't even remember what my gamertag was now.

At this point, you might as well hole onto it as it is slowly becoming a retro console with a slowly increasing resale valve.

  20. I still have an OG Xbox One.  I hope to grab a new 1TB S this black Friday.  PC is my main gaming, but the kiddo is getting old enough that he is using the living room setup a bit more and the console shows its age.  Plus the new S is finally a black console that lays flat to not stick out like a crazy person in our stand.

  21. In a significant move to enhance online safety, Epic Games has introduced a new voice reporting feature in Fortnite. This addition is designed to offer players a method to report inappropriate behavior in voice chats, enhancing the overall gaming experience and community well-being.

Epic Games' latest feature is particularly focused on safeguarding young players. For gamers under 18, the voice chat monitoring is automatically activated, continuously recording voice chats. The only way to circumvent this recording is by either muting the microphone or disabling voice chat entirely. This proactive approach ensures that younger players are less exposed to potentially harmful interactions, aligning with the broader industry trend of prioritizing online safety for minors.

    Reporting Mechanism and Privacy Measures

The reporting process involves capturing the last five minutes of a voice chat, which is then securely uploaded to Epic's servers for review by moderators. This system operates on a rolling basis, ensuring that only the most recent interactions are captured and older recordings are automatically deleted. For adults, the feature offers customization options within the audio settings, allowing them to decide their level of participation. Epic emphasizes the confidentiality and security of these voice clips, which are automatically erased after 14 days or once the review process is concluded, unless legal reasons necessitate longer retention.

Epic Games Joins Industry Trends in Online Safety

This initiative by Epic Games mirrors efforts by other major gaming companies like Microsoft, Riot Games, and Sony, who have all implemented similar voice chat recording tools to combat inappropriate behavior in online gaming environments. Additionally, Epic has introduced age ratings for all playable content in Fortnite, furthering its commitment to providing a safe and age-appropriate gaming environment. This move signals a significant step in the gaming industry's ongoing efforts to create safer, more inclusive online spaces.
