  1. EA Delays New Battlefield Release Electronic Arts (EA) has made it clear that fans of the Battlefield franchise will have to wait longer for the next installment. During a recent earnings call, EA CFO Stuart Canfield confirmed that the upcoming Battlefield game will not be part of the company's fiscal year 2025 lineup, extending from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. This timeline effectively postpones the game's release to at least 2025, marking a significant gap since the launch of Battlefield 2042 in 2021. Strategic Planning for Future Growth EA's decision to delay the next Battlefield game is part of a broader strategy to ensure the franchise's future success. Canfield emphasized the company's focus on leveraging its portfolio of industry-leading intellectual properties to accelerate net bookings growth and profitability in the years following fiscal year 2025. The plan includes not only new entries in core sports franchises but also fresh content across EA's massive online communities and the development of iconic titles like Battlefield and Sims, among others. A Vision for Battlefield's Future The hiatus in Battlefield releases allows EA to redefine the franchise's direction. Following Battlefield 2042's mixed reception, EA announced its intention to create a "connected Battlefield universe," entrusting Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella with overseeing the franchise's future. EA CEO Andrew Wilson hinted at a "reimagination" of the series, indicating a significant evolution in the next installment. Furthermore, the development of the new Battlefield game has been assigned to Criterion, the studio behind the Burnout series, signaling EA's commitment to refreshing the franchise with innovative ideas and talent. Awaiting Battlefield's Next Chapter With the next Battlefield game's release set for no earlier than 2025, fans are left anticipating how EA will transform the franchise. The company's strategic delay suggests a dedication to quality and innovation, aiming to deliver an experience that redefines Battlefield for a new era. As EA continues to update Battlefield 2042 and develop other titles, the gaming community eagerly awaits further details on what the future holds for this beloved series.

  3. Rise of Imitations on App Stores Pocketpair, the creative force behind the wildly popular game Palworld, has issued a stark warning to its fanbase regarding the emergence of counterfeit Palworld mobile applications on various app stores. The developer took to social media to clarify that Palworld does not have an official mobile app, and the appearance of such apps on platforms like the App Store and Google Play is unauthorized. These fraudulent applications, often mimicking the aesthetics and branding of Palworld, are not endorsed or developed by Pocketpair, leading to concerns over user privacy and the potential for scams. Safety Concerns and Developer's Actions The proliferation of these fake apps has prompted Pocketpair to take immediate action by notifying Apple and Google, the proprietors of the App Store and Google Play, respectively. The developer's primary concern is the safety and security of their audience's personal information, which could be jeopardized by downloading these illegitimate applications. Pocketpair's statement highlighted the risks associated with these apps, including data breaches and fraudulent activities, urging the community to exercise caution and avoid falling victim to these schemes. Palworld's Popularity and Controversy The necessity of such a warning underscores the massive success and widespread recognition Palworld has achieved since its launch. The game quickly ascended to the top of sales charts, amassing eight million sales within a mere six days of its early access release on PC and Xbox. However, this acclaim has not been without its challenges. Palworld has found itself at the center of controversy, facing accusations of being a "rip-off" of the iconic Pokémon series. These allegations have escalated to the point where Pocketpair disclosed receiving death threats. The situation has drawn the attention of Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, prompting discussions about intellectual property rights and potential legal actions. Despite these hurdles, Palworld's popularity remains undiminished on platforms like Steam, where it has achieved remarkable milestones in player engagement.

  7. Perhaps, but I have my doubts. With my main genre being FPS games, there are a lot of perks to keep up with the trends. However, with the push to make everything live service, I actually worry that in 30 years, the games I love today will simply not exist to be played as a retro game.
  8. Season 2 Overview: Zombies Meet Modern Warfare Modern Warfare 3 is ramping up the action with its Season 2 update, bringing a fresh undead twist to the battlefield. Season 2 not only introduces iconic characters Rick Grimes and Michonne from "The Walking Dead" into the Call of Duty universe but also unveils the innovative Hordepoint mode. In this mode, zombies infiltrate multiplayer matches, adding a new layer of challenge and excitement. Players can explore three new six-vs-six maps named Stash House, Vista, and Departures, alongside Operation Tin Man, a much-anticipated map for War mode. The arsenal expands with the introduction of the BP50 assault rifle, RAM-9 SMG, SOA Subverter battle rifle, and the melee-focused Soulrender weapon. Game Modes and Zombie Challenges Season 2 brings several game modes to the forefront, including Team Gun Game, Snipers Only, Juggermosh, Bounty, and a variant of Vortex. 10. Announcement of Departure and Leadership Change Joe Blackburn, the current game director of Destiny 2, has made the announcement that he will be departing from Bungie, the studio behind Destiny 2, in the coming month. He shared this significant news on X (formerly Twitter), amidst discussing a pivotal studio tradition known as the "End-to-End playtest." In this context, Blackburn also introduced Tyson Green, a veteran developer at Bungie, as his successor and the new game director of Destiny 2. End-to-End Playtest: A Bungie Tradition The "End-to-End playtest" Blackburn mentioned is a comprehensive internal playtesting event that spans several days. It's designed to gather critical feedback on upcoming content and marks a transition towards the final stages of bug fixing and game polishing. This playtest ritual holds a special place in Blackburn's heart, particularly as it coincides with his departure and the handover of his role to Tyson Green. Blackburn highlighted Green's extensive contributions to the studio, noting his involvement in pivotal projects from Halo PvP to the creation of exotic weapons in the original Destiny. The Final Shape and Legacy Looking ahead, Blackburn expressed his pride in Destiny 2's forthcoming expansion, The Final Shape, which aims to conclude the epic War of Light and Darkness storyline. Despite the expansion's delay to June 4, Blackburn's extensive playtesting experience has left him confident in the quality and impact of the upcoming content. As he prepares to embark on a new adventure outside of Bungie, Blackburn's departure marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter under Tyson Green's leadership. This transition occurs in the wake of significant layoffs at Bungie, with approximately 100 employees affected last October.

  12. OPEN SERIES DATES (Dates may be subject to change) NORTH AMERICA - Feb 3-4: Open #1 - Feb 9-10: Open #2 - Feb 17-18: Open #3
  13. We will pull of a game night on Halo every few months. Although the MCC seems to be getting the vote over Infinite most of the time anymore.
  14. I don't know how to take Faries. She seems decent, but she also comes from the esports side of Activision and while I would be excited about that... the Call of Duty League is barely surviving now that they made the league exclusive to YouTube and shut down watch parties and the Overwatch League is dead (sure, I don't know how much she affected the Overwatch League, but I'd hope an in-company CEO of Esports would step in to try and help one of the best esports games ever made not die on the Blizzard side).
  15. They seem to have cleaned house once the Activision deal was finalized. Perhaps it will be a good thing as the studio seemed to produce disappointment after disappointment, but nearly 2,000 lost their jobs, and given how "well" other studios have done under the new Microsoft, I guess only time will tell.
